A friend manged to feed his quit big habits by collecting scrap metal.
University's, schools, hospitals can be a treasure chest. They have a lot of old pc's and other electronic stuff they are happy, some body gets rid of for free. Circuit boards, cables etc. contain copper and other precious metals. If you got a truck, your local recycling depot accepts trash free and a local scrap metal dealer will buy, your are in. Just call the facility management and offer to get rid of their stuff. Break done the electronics at home. Bring the circuit boards etc. to the dealer and the rest to the recycling depot.
Its a lot of work, buts its legal, a good thing for the environment and can bring enough to feed a habit. Done properly you can even employ some friends.
