it seems to me that benzos do more in the brain than just activating GABA. I love alcohol, but I hate benzos with a fucking passion.
All of my experiences with benzos have been disasterous. Once I took 8 klonopins and had a hangover of extreme rage for literally a week, by the 7th day i was still doped out.
Nothing is worse than valiums, Ive only taken them twice and both times I had extreme suicide ideation, luckily both times i wasn't alone or I wouldve cut my body to shreds. Is it possible that benzos affect serotonin in a negative way?
I do find this very interesting. I love alcohol and drink every night, but hate hangovers with a fucking passion haha, so I never usually drink to that point. But for me, I only really enjoy drinking, and drink more, and have less of a hangover when on benzos. This seems to be the opposite to you, but I have always known and been interested every now and then about this link between the two. There is a link between benzos and alcohol (GABA, Serotonin, etc.), but I think there is still a lot more yet to be found out.
I would have to say I am more inclined to choose benzos over alcohol, but I couldn't agree more with you with a passion about too many benzos leading to disaster. I only had to learn this lesson through xanax, clonazepam, lorazepam, diazepam, temazepam probably over 100 times (destructive behaviour, days up to over a week of blacking out at a time, doing the opposite of everything I should have been doing and never remembering anything, a couple of car accidents and hospitalisations). 8) I think most of us know that benzos can be fantastic if used correctly, BUT are absolute life destroyers otherwise.
The other opposite with me is that I've been taking valium every day for about 7 years now (with the exception of maybe 4 months off them in this period), and these days prescribed them for a correct dose.
It is interesting to hear about other peoples experiences of the link between the two, even though these experiences are different.
