I'm looking for some feedback on amphetamines and dosage. I was diagnosed with some sort of depression in July of this year. They went through the normal course of prescription drugs (cymbalta, fluoxitine, etc.) Those did not work at all.

My doc then prescribed Adderall ER (10-20mg per day) while I was still taking Cymbalta. No results. As I mentioned in a previous thread, I took it upon myself to try increasing the dosage myself and even went to chewing some up to see if anything would happen. Again, no noticeable effect. I'm not looking for a high or rush, but rather I'm looking to become more focused, energetic, motivated, etc.

My doc then switched me to Ritalin IR (20 mg twice a day). I got nothing from 20 mg. I then tried 40mg and felt a bit more focused and motivated. I then tried 60mg and got exactly what I was looking for. Motivation, focus, energy, etc. It lasted about 3-4 hours, so I started taking 60 mg every 3-4 hours during work days, which usually lasted about 10 hours/day. I told my doc about my experimentation and that 60mg seemed to work wonderfully. She said that's too much and put me on Dexedrine (30-60mg/day).

I expected great results based on what I've read on this forum. I got nothing or at least little to no effect.

So, to make a long story short, I don't know what to do. Was that too much Ritalin to be taking in one day? Also, why aren't these "miracle" drugs (Adderall and Dexedrine) doing anything?

Thanks for any input you might be able to offer.

This is my response from your first thread-

We don't allow these types of threads... we can only speculate as to why you aren't enjoying it that much and that's futile. Maybe this type of drug isn't for you. Maybe you have a natural tolerance. Who knows?

If you're unsatisfied with your MEDICAL treatment talk to your doctor. If you want to know why you aren't getting the effects you want from these, we can't help you.

If you have any questions about this or about the forum, feel free to Private Message me any time! Welcome to BL!
