I can never ever get even a register in my arms, tourney or no. I'm a master of the technique. You know where I've had the most luck lately? The tiny ass veins running along the length of my finger. I can register and deliver most to all there but almost nowhere else. On the rare occasions I do see a superficial arm or leg vein, I hit, register then suddenly lose it with no change whatsoever in position. It will literally go from registered to pain and immediate swelling and often hives. What gives?

I sincerely want to know about this from a harm reduction perspective because for one, I'm covered in needle marks almost all of which are misses, and two, sometimes it will start to itch afterwards and swell so rapidly I have giant red and white welts all up and down the hand and arm which are so puffy I can't move my fingers. Surely an allergic reaction this intense could eventually produce some form of respiratory arrest or anaphylaxis?

^ You're killing yourself. Stop shooting up. There is no way to shoot up multiple times a day, day in and day out, without destroying your veins. Take a break. If you're on opiates get on Methadone or Bupe.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that this is a problem with my natural anatomy and was present in its full extent before I ever used a needle. It's not from years if mainlining.

what Blind Melon said still applies then tbh

if you have reached the point where you need to inject and registering is that much of a problem for you, then going on maintenance sounds like a good idea

I'd say to stick with the superficial leg veins, as long as you can actually see them.

The ones I have in my legs work just fine, and would be preferred to missing in my arms/fingers (yikes 8o can't imagine hitting a finger vein).

Not using is also a great alternative.

If they've been like that for an extended period of time, IVing definitely won't have helped. The scar tissue at frequently used sites can make it a bitch to hit, and so can collapses of course. Stick to higher-gauge needles for those smaller veins to avoid unnecessarily large punctures and stress, for sure, if you're going to continue. As others have said, I'd also recommend temporarily tapering with ORT, but that's a suggestion you have to be ready to take or else it's just useless. Be safe!

are you switching sites for every shot??? you have to use a new vein every time or your veins will get fucked! i have good luck with the veins on my wrists and my hands. i usually use a tourny when i go to hit one of those veins

things that help your veins pop: being in warm, humid enviroments. taking hot showers helps. staying hydrated will help those veins show.

if you have no luck, then try to feel out the veins with your fingers. look on a vein map to get a gist of where the vein should be and then go from there.

definitely re-register during your shot, this will prevent misses. just now i hit a vein, pushed in a litte, and it hurt and for no reason it seems i slipped out the vein because i couldnt draw back blood after previously filling the barrel with blood. then i just moved to a different vein and hit right away.

Be very careful when using ur hands. I had the same problem. Nothing worked anymore on the arms so I started using the small veins on fingers, palm, back of hand and wrists. Now I have puffy hand syndrome. This is edema of the hands due to the damage I got from overloading those small veins. I am a phlebotomists so I have amazing skills but still that didn't save me. It has been almost 7 years since I last used my hands and even arms but they are still swollen and red all the time. They gift when I wake up to. It's in my feet too because I use to use those small veins on my toes, tops and bottoms of feet. Really the only one on your feet large enough are on the ankles. Good luck and please b careful

We can't advocate doing something dangerous on here, so while I didn't read your entire post if your veins are fucked up that's that. I'm not gonna tell you a secret vein or say it's okay just keep shooting the H will calm your nerves. Personally I think we should recommend that people get trained to IV by a professional before we tell them how to do it properly, but that's just me. That's what you should do as well OP, or just use your common sense and plug.
