Opioids I have FENTANYL patches, but i dont know what to do with them?

How did a nurse decide to prescribe fentanyl patches? That would normally be a doc...

Nurse practitioner's can, also, most doctors spend their time doing..."other stuff" and the nurses are left to do the bulk majority of the work, this includes making sure that prescriptions recommended by physician to patient actually end up getting written and then dispensed to the patient in a timely fashion.

Without nurses, the healthcare industry would collapse in a matter of hours.

what tricomb said!!!

I used them (non gel) by shaving the hair on my chest and placing them on my heart and having a really hot shower and rubbing it as much as I could.

I also cut quarters up and stuck them to the insides of my gums.

No recreational value really but for the pain I was in it worked YMMV and this is what I did not what you should do.

I was getting high doses of it IV in hospital and the rush was like 30 seconds at best.

Yes, I've heard of this and people chewing them like gum and spitting them out. I've had access to them and had many patches, I used one the correct or by directions for real sick pain and it didn't really help it made my body feel numb, I couldn't feel my body, especially my feet. I just 'got rid of them' I have a fear about them. Be very careful with these as they are very strong & using them in any other way than directed is risky, imho.

I just wanted to say that I am extremely proud of yall for posting how dangerous fentanyl truly is instead of advocating use of it.

Why? This does not provide OP with the information he/she needs and NO ONE who is asking about how to use fentanyl is going to listen to "Don't use fentanyl".

It's kind of saying don't do drugs they are bad, mmkay? It just falls to deaf ear.

@OP use them as intended, you'll get the most out of them this way and it's the only real safe way to use them anyway.

Well of course dear...remember, I have been a nurse for 20 years. This is why I was aking deidra about it. She stated the nurse was an idiot for deciding to change her grandpa from 20 mg of hydro to a fent patch. A doctor would usually be behind that order, a nurse following through and carrying out the "idiot doc" order!

*edit* I too am so glad to see the posts about how dangerous fent is! It seems like I am always just talking myself blue in the face. I frequently bring up the fact that even some of our very own BLer family members who were very experienced in drugs in general and fent in particular have ODed on fentanyl. I cringe everytime I read a post minimizing the dangers and throwinf even less 'safe' practices out there. There are so many other narcotics that are more euphoric and much less dangerous than fentanyl! Anyone who is thinking about it needs to do lots and lots of research before they go there!

^ Thank you for being a nurse.

OD is a harm reduction forum, but there's no way that anyone can correctly abuse fentanyl. Feel free to read this thread where we have posted our views regarding fentanyl. By all means continue the discussion in there because we are always open to criticism. We aren't a regime that refuses to listen to suggestions. But we have had an overwhelming amount of support from Bluelighters and staff. This isn't something that we all of a sudden decided to do because we have something against fentanyl.

Actually people have not abused fentanyl due to threads like this. You don't know who all is reading this thread right now who's not posting. We had over 500 people logged on when I clicked on OD a moment ago and if we can save one life by not doing something that's absolutely reckless such as abusing fentanyl then we have accomplished something.

I do not advise using Fetanyl, its the most hardcore opiate you will ever come across, ive been told its better then pure heroin if you know how to use it, but if your serious about using them I have seen it done MANY times by someone who is dead now, so don't do it.

To smoke them is simple, put a VERY VERY small piece on some foil shiney side down and light it, shooting is a little more complicated and completely disgusting and VERY painful you will most likely scream after you do that , put an even smaller piece on your spoon and add vinegar, cook until the vinegar almost disappears, add water and cook until the water is almost gone then add enough water to fill your rig completely and do your thing. the reason for the vinegar is because it is the only thing that will get the stuff u want out of the patch, the reason for adding water twice is to dilute the remaining vinegar as much as possible this will work and give u the best high u have ever had, the person I have seen do this is dead but has done ALOT of H, from the worst to the best and he says shooting fetanyl in this method is the best high he has ever experienced, H wouldn't even get him high when he was doing this because he was using 200mg of methadone everyday. Since fentanyl has been around my area I have heard of 2 deaths from shooting it and pretty much witnessed one of them myself, smoking it is safer, I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE USE FETANAYL I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE IF HE DOES IT HES DOING IT RIGHT, I DONT WANT ANYMORE PEOPLE DYING FROM THIS GARBAGE

I've been using fentanyl patches for about two months now. The problem with using the new gel patches for recreational usage is it takes 15-17 hours for the drugs to enter your system after placement. The alternative is to cut open the reservoir, dab some gel on foil and chase the dragon. I'D HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST THIS!! There's no way of knowing how big a dose is thus making it extremely dangerous.

Trade them for something you're more familiar with.

fent is VERY POTENT, I been a hardcore opiate user for 15yrs, and to this day, just putting a 25mcg patch on is way too much for me to handle...it busts right thru my methadone block dose too, that's how powerful it hoursis, take it how ur supposed to, on ur arm, im sure that's the highest bio u will get anyway, chewing on them im sure u get a lower bio however ur releasing 72hrs worth of the drug at once in ur system, which can lead to fatal Overdose. Fentanyl has a higher affinity level than naloxone, so if u Overdose, chances are narcan wont bring u back (WOW im PISSED, I lost half of my reply post to this, so im not re writing it..) slap it on ur arm and be safe, remember it takes *16* hours for it to reach peak effects, so don't slap more patches on if u don't feel it soon, that's a death wish

Another point to make to prospective fentanyl users is this: I tapered off morphine ER onto an equivalent amount of fentanyl patches. In addition, I have morphine IR tablets for breakthrough pain. Wearing the patches has achieved the best control of chronic pain in twenty years.

That said, fentanyl has reduced my already-low physical energy from low to nil. My appetite is gone; I have to MAKE myself eat. As an excellent cook with others to feed (or at least buy groceries for), these are major challenges that I never expected. Since exercise triggers my pain situation... well, so much for that.

So now instead of finding myself rolled into a miserable fetal ball from unresolved pain, I'm collapsed from fatigue. However, it's a trade-off I'll make. Another is saying bye-bye ever to getting any recreational buzz from prescription pain medication. Alcohol is out of the question, as it's likely fatal when combined with my daily drug regimen; I've lost my taste for weed. It's difficult enough to find a pain management practice to treat me, especially as the source of my pain cannot conclusively be tied to what shows up on the MRI scans. After spending two years in The So-Called Pain Mgmt Group From Hell, LLC, I'm not going to do anything to threaten my relationship with my current providers.

That said, I'm grateful for the commentary of those who have experimented with fentanyl and described any high as "cold," fast-acting, and basically not worth the considerable risks. That kind of HR commentary is valuable; at least I found it so.

MrsMorphine: I totally agree about the lack of appetite. Sometimes I try to recall the last time I've eaten and realize its been almost two days. Fortunately that's rare but I do find myself typically eating once a day since starting the fentanyl patch (75 mcg). And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that doesn't catch a buzz from fent. The hydrmorphone IR tabs I use don't even dent the nothingness the fentanyl produces. People ask if I feel anymore pain and I tell them I don't feel anything...at all.

Sucks about your lack of taste for greenery. Its pretty much the only rec. drug I can stomach anymore.
