I have a problem... I think (shaking after Ayahuasca)

Hey guys. I did Aya one time, and at the end of the trip I started "shaking". Now, it wasn't convulsions like that of a seizure. It was more like a feeling of restless dancing. I wanted to roll all over the carpet and kick my legs in the air wildly. The interesting thing is that I was able to consciously control it. I distinctly remember being able to calm myself and not do it, but it felt so damn good to move about the room. It was like I had rabies. It just *felt good*.

Unfortunately, now when I smoke weed (hardly ever... I am a lightweight) I get this same restless dancing feeling, albeit to a lesser degree. The other night I was laying on my friend's couch after taking a GB rip. As I laid there, I started shaking my hips back and forth and was kicking my legs in the air. Does anyone know why this might be? Thanks.

Marijuana actives have some serotonin activity (don't quote me on that, I only have second hand info, maybe someone more informed could post some "real" information), and since you are not a regular smoker you are probably feeling more of its serotonergic effects. Ayahuasca (the DMT part) acts primarily on serotonin receptors, so may have experienced some sort of conditioned effect. How many other serotonergic drugs have you done? (Other tryptamines, molly)

Seeing as this originated with ayahuasca I'm going to try it in the Psychedelic Drugs forum, although it could also fit in Cannabis Discussion as the problem also now happens with weed.. but in PD you can see if anyone had a similar experience.

I think this might be more down to an unconscious urge to lay on your back and wave your legs in the air than anything to do with ayahuasca.

If it feels good, it's not a problem :) Go with it and fuck your friends who think you're weird for it!

I can imagine plenty of situations where this would be annoying or problematic.. He probably wouldn't ask us for help if he found the symptoms fun. I don't really have any helpful advice though.. never tried ayahuasca :(

I've never done ayahuasca, but I've smoked my fair share of DMT. Towards the tail end this is exactly how I feel. When I am able to move again I just want to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHjqd7T9w60 . I remember during one of my first LSD trips a buddy was just kicking his legs and he said "I feel so good and I just need to get this energy out. I am so glad we're friends and you won't judge me for this." This has really stuck with me throughout my psychedelic career, just be you and you'll quickly find out who your true friends are.

hahahahaha maybe you are just happy as shit and you dont feel like you have to be all controlled and inhibited anymore
