You know, being what society deems a "geek" should not necessarily be considered a derogatory term. It simply means we are above-knowledgable on the subject. In a world so completely infested with corruption, drugs, overdoses, pharmaceuticals, prescriptions, recreational drug use, research chemicals, and the health hazards of long-time legal drugs, I'd say that being a "drug nerd" is a very useful tool in life.
I'm quite proud of the amount of knowledge that I have acquired through my time spent on Marijuana.com (back when it was halfway decent....

) and of course my all-time favorite, Bluelight.nu, as well as
www.thegooddrugsguide.com, rxlist.com, drugs.com, marihemp.com, operation overgrow, and last but certainly not least, Erowid.org.
I've prevented many an overdose, many a deadly combination at parties, many a night of relentless vomitting; unlike being a Star Trek nerd, what we are obsessed with is actually applicable to our lives in a universal sense. To be able to discern pure Opium sap from Dragon's Blood Incense has helped me on several occasions.
I'd rather be a connisseur (apologies for the spelling, I am a bit drunk) than a bumbling idiot when it comes to issues that could, potentially, determine whether or not I survive the night. I have no regrets.
