I got a once-in-a-lifetime score. Its from the 1930s, should I use? *PICS UPLOADED*

A few things:

-most people are saying grab it for sure - as a souvenir. Don't open it though, it will lose any value it has when opened (Says my Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card).

-a grain is about 65mg. wasn't sure if you were asking, or if you already knew, but I thought I would throw that out there

-Why bother with a GC/MS? (Yes I know what it is, I've used one plenty of times, so please don't patronize me). I mean, what good will the results really do you? To me thats as valuable as running GC/MS on a fart. Actually, the fart would be more interesting.

How do you figure the cannabis extract should be alright after 80 years? A plant extract would be more likely to go bad than pure morphine salt.

Since you have no idea what's in the tinctures as far as additives or preservatives, I wouldn't mess with them. It's not worth getting sick or worse. These bottles probably have some novelty value though.

a couple people have mentioned that you should smell it for some reason. i dont see how smelling it will achieve anything, unless you are an expert on 1930s era cannabis/morphine elixirs. who knows what that shit is supposed to smell like, much less how it would smell if it was no good (which it likely is). i bet a morphine/indica solution would have a weird smell even when fresh, so there is no way to tell with this method if it is safe or not.

Yea thats really fucked up.

I advise against it, fully man. Get it just to have as an antique, but don't try and consume the contents. Leave it in tact as well. That's what I would do....and Im a fuckin junkie!!
 
The only safe thing to do is go into a nursing home and find the oldest man or woman you can. More than likely, the lady or gentleman will remember the tincture and be able to accurately tell you if the cocktail is the way they remember it.

This blows my mind that you cant figure it out. They could have taken the old one out, and put a new one in. Its not that hard, at all.

asyou said, its in mint-condidtion, never opened or anything so it just might be awesome


like a few people said, procede with caution and start slow, but definetly post a trip report or something about it=D =D
 
Post some pics! I just want to see it. Maybe a pic of the cork? I've seen old medicine bottles that appeared to have never been opened, but were dry as a bone inside from years of slow evaporation. I doubt that it's an airtight seal, never opened or not.
 
Yea I am with everyone else in that we need some Gallery pics. I read somewhere on Erowid that there are antique medicine bottle collectors that would pay top dollar for a find like that - of course, I would assume it to be illegal with the contents inside, but even with just particulate matter I think that would have to be in the gray area of the law.
 
It would be a really dumb idea to take it, but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't give it a second thought while in WD. I'm sure many others would be the same way.

I think we need more conjecture on the issue, TBH =D

But personally that sounds like one badass antique coffeetable piece. Think of its conversation-starting abilities!

haha, I work at a nursing home where there are a few residents who would have been in their prime in the 1930's

The question is...would they be able to recall it/ understand the question
