Yes some people do this. For multiple reasons. Generally if we see you posting meaningless posts, they will be unapproved, which means that they won't count towards your post count. It really doesn't take that much effort to post 50 useful posts in appropriate threads. The status really ain't that important anyway.

In future, threads like this should go in the Support forum, so I'll shift it over there now (from Homeless threads)

Well, you can talk to them through posts until then. People know the drill, so they shouldnt be expecting PMs from you until you've reached BL status anyway. I dont know why someone would message a greenlighter anyway... nothing against GLrs, its just, what could you possibly need to tell someone so urgently who you dont even know? At least not that you couldnt say through a post.
 
Being a 'greenlighter' you won't know anyone so why would you care about PMs? Can't say my status made any difference, the only person I needed to pm was a mod, and you can do that at any level.

Sometimes personal experience can share a lot of info with someone, especially when they are new to something. Sometimes a greenlighter just wants to make sure they're not forgetting anything important, etc, so a quick checklist from a fellow bluelighter can help them out. People don't always want to post things that are sensitive to themselves, or if they have an idea that other people will make fun of them/scoff at them for what they are doing (i.e. a lot of people look down on IV drug users, even in Bluelight).
 
I would hope that all of the staff here are approachable enough that a greenlighter could ask a member of staff if they wanted or needed advice on something like that.
 
On a different forum I'm on you can post and PM at 0 posts but to go into the "Good forums" and post you have to have 200. Took me like 3 months
 
Ok sorry if this is really off topic but it didn't seem like a something too worthy of a new thread and this seems to be the closest I could find to a topic that was similar (though I admittedly didn't look all that hard). Anyway I was just wondering how I became a bluelighter with less than 50 posts? Not that I'm complaining or anything haha. Just thought it strange that I've been a greenlighter for years, I post very rarely kinda a shy person, and then all of a sudden today I make a post and I see bluelighter under my name. Anyway just curious thank you in advance.
 
Did you hit 25( the old threshold to become Bluelighter) then lose posts through pruning, thread deletions etc. I don't know for sure but that would be my guess.
 
No I don't believe so anyway. I don't remember even making a post till like last year I think. I could've made a few post before that but I hadn't logged into this acct for years till I made that first post that I can remember.
 
To answer your question-- I have absolutely no idea. An admin will have to look into that one. I'll bring it to their attention.
 
Hahaha ok thank you. I don't mind if I have to be a greenlighter again either I mean I don't really know anyone anyway so it's not like I have anyone to pm and as far as I know thats about all a bluelighter can do.
 
Err not so sure how much it matters now I got a bit caught up in the lounge but at the time I made these post I had only like 12. But I would still like to know what happened. And it might be good to know if it was some sort of glitch.
