I get my dog high, am i a bad person?

I feel there is somewhat of a bl dogma around questions like this, any many will repeat "you are sick, the dog can't consent." But really, your dog is your property right? I agree you are free to experiment, see what your dog thinks of getting high. He is not really smart enough to have a bad trip comparable to the depth of a human's bad trip imo, just be there to comfort him / rub his head if he gets nervous.
This is not a big enough issue to qualify the op as a good or bad person.

Your dog is not your property, it is an independent living organism to be treated with care and respect. They also are just as capable, if not more capable of feeling pain and unhappiness as we are, animals can have trips just as bad or worse then humans can.

But yeah, the point is the same- a lot of dogs like weed, and there's nothing wrong with making them happy, so you might as well give them some if they dig it.
 
Is someone a bad person because they feed their cat (a carnivore, with no taste receptors for sugars or carbohydrates, that can and does suffer from insulin resistance and obesity like humans) the grain-heavy diet that 99% of the time is passed off as 'cat food'?

I find it pretty easy to tell when my dog is happy. Indeed, it should be completly obvious. If a dog is happy after being smoked out, and doesn't shy away from the pipe and lighter and such, then they like pot. If they aren't happy after being smoked out, then they don't like pot. Do you really find it difficult to tell when dogs are happy?

My cat enjoys marijuana, and I give him some occaisionally, more often then the OP actually (1-3 times per week, it used to be 2 on most weeks but it's been about once per week recently. three times is the most it ever is). When I give it to him he lays down and purrs for a few hours and lets me pet him and sometimes gorges himself on food, he clearly enjoys the experience. My dog seemed a bit dismayed (but not unhappy as long as I was petting her) when I got her stoned. She now shys away from the lighter every time I light up near herm and she clearly doesn't want to get high, so I don't smoke her out.

Eat it if it's in marijuana food. If it's just straight then it does nothing with it, because cats clearly don't have the ability to do shit with marijuana other then perhaps eat it. That was a dumb question.

I can see how it would be construed as unethical, but ultimatly I think it's more unethical to deny an animal something that could potentially increase their quality of life then it is to get it high once. When I first smoked weed I didn't know whether or not I'd enjoy it, but I thought it would be worth it because the potential gains are greater then the potential losses (having one unpleasent experience). It's not like it's dangerous.

I've given my cats (I have two, I only give one pot though) catnip for the same reason.

Also, don't be an asshole.

Is this a serious question? Dogs are physically unable to roll joints, break weed, or pretty much handle anything complicated. They're also very stupid.
 
I can't believe I didn't notice the catnap perspective. If you people have a problem with giving pets marijuana, do you also have a problem with giving them catnip??
 
^Chill out. What a horrible use of sarcasm that was. I understand it was sarcasm, but he posed the same question twice, both times in a serious context. He did ask the question in a different way the second time at least.
 
I smoke up my friend's dog whenever he would get annoying, it would chill him out. As for anyone giving the OP shit for smoking up his dog, I was seriously considering and researching feeding rolls to a horse and trying to ride it. I never did it, because I realized how stupid and crazy it was, but I was dead set on figuring out if the horse would be harmed in any way. It dawned on me that if anyone, I would be hurt, badly.
 
^I think that making an animal experience an MDMA crash would be pretty cruel, so some downers would be required. I've seen animals on downers before (opiates and benzos on a few seperate occaisions) and they were having a damn good time, which makes sense.
