haha, i'm not sure if this is the correct forum, and this is almost surely some sort of placebo effect, but has anyone heard of i-dosing? i read an article in the paper this am about it. apparently, kids d/l certain digital beats or whatever that "alter their brainwaves" and it gets them high:

The youths plug into what they call 'i-dosers' by putting on headphones and downloading music and tones that create a supposed drug-like euphoria, according to some school officials.

The technology is designed to combine a tone in each ear to create a binaural beat designed to alter brainwaves.

I don't know, it sounds stupid, but it was kind of a funny/interesting read. anyone ever heard of or tried this?

I've heard of it. My mate tried it, he said gave him a sort of sedating effect. Apparently you have to treat it like meditation, lie eyes closed in the dark and listen to the sounds for about 30 mins.

There have been a few threads on this in OD and PD before if you dig around. Works for some and not for others. I found it surprisingly effective myself. The "doses" feel nothing like the drug they claim to replicate but some are really rather nice in their own right. I find the long ones are most effective and headphones in a darkened room are essential to give them a chance of working at all.

wow! id like to get addicted to i dosing instead of H.

I heard that one of the reasons why people like the ocean so much and also kitty cat purrs is that those sounds carry a delta wave, which is something our brain goes into during certain meditative states.

what is a good source for this i-dosing? or is this against the BL rules for sourcing? jk...it better not be

It's only worked on me when I was already high, when I'm sober it's just annoying noise.

How could it not be a placebo effect? You're not actually taking anything...only way it'll work is if you trick your mind into thinking it'll work and know the feeling.

^you seem to have the right idea. I don't deny that binaural beats can alter brain wave patterns (although I don't know that they can either) but people believing they can actually replicate the effects of chemicals is silly.

I don't see this fitting into OD and honestly I have no idea where this would fit so I'm going to close this. Sorry. OP.
