Stick, maybe they were the "greatest person", with YOU. Maybe they eventually needed to step away to really find themselves. In the end it may have been the healthiest thing for both of you. You've both been on the same path together for a long time... those paths have now naturally taken a different direction and who knows... they may end up crossing again someday.
For now I think you should focus on YOUR path... For I have little doubt that it will soon run up next to someone else's that is similar to yours and the cycle will begin again.
