i have been up for 24 hours. i had some oxycontin about 4 hours ago for the first time. snorted some. and ate a tiny bit with the extended release coating on it. i have now taken my usual sleeping pills and have found that i cant sleep!! i should be barely able to keep my eyes open on a normal day after being awake for so long. has anyone else experienced this? also do you have any suggestions for remedies?

its normal, not sure what to tell you about getting to sleep though. mixing sleeping pills or benzos with oxy probably isn't that safe.

everybody has to learn the hard way…..but i would def make sure you don't get addicted and don't do it again for a while.

no benzos. just mirtazapine, an antidepressant/sleep aid. ok so at least itst not unusual. how long do you reckon it will last? only probably 10mg with the extended release coating

a bit of a body high. and waves of nausea. i was just thinking id have a bit to get me through the day, sort of get me through the sleep deprivation anxiety and then get a good nights sleep. probably has helped a bit with nerves. at first i snorted some and was feeling pretty damn good. its the bit i swallowed that got me. tomorrow is the day i will appreciate the recreational value :P

Oxy always knocks for me 6 bells *ding ding ding ding ding ding*. Especially after the first hour or so. I find the weaker opioids tend to keep me more awake (codeine, DHC, tramadol *ESPECIALLY - i avoid that stuff like the plague, unless i actually have the plague*) .

I was going to suggest maybe more oxy could make you sleepy? But I don't think that's in the best spirit of harm reduction. Maybe a sedating antihistamine? Diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine or promethazine are usually good choices. Hydroxyzine in particular if you don't like anticholinergics.

Stay safe & much love <3

sometimes oxy can bring you up and buzzing even so wouldn't advise taking anything else depending on your opiate tolerance especially if your on your own

Hi flycrow,

Given that you don't have any previous experience with oxy I wouldn't suggest taking any more (not that you said you were going to, of course). It's quite normal for oxy to provide a stimulating high, but it doesn't last all that long and you'll likely wind down naturally before too much longer.

Oxy can be stimulating, but I don't think it's caused many people actual lasting insomnia (unless they were constantly re-dosing in bed!)

Stay safe.

Yeah, actually I'll reiterate that. Taking more oxycodone is probably a bad idea. *slaps self*. Safety first.
