I can't find any new sad songs!

I'm not sure if this is sad as much as somber but an enjoyable song nonetheless . . .

A Silver Mt Zion - The Triumph Of Our Tired Eyes

I see you mentioned liking Jeff Buckley, check out Forget Her for another sad love song. The Sky is a Landfill is also sorta sad, but more rockin angry at society type thing. I think I like Sketches more than Grace in many ways, less polish and more rockin tunes. My personal favorite songs of his are his solo guitar+vocals stuff on Live at Sin-e, The Way Young Lovers Do is an AMAZING cover of a Van Morrison song, and Eternal Life is another rockin angry at society punkish tune.

Elliott Smith is always amazing for sad stuff. Baby Britain has been on my mind lately, it's poppy as all hell but the most sad backhanded compliment of a song I've ever heard. Memory Lane is a great happy sounding folksy tune if you're in a wallowing in self-pity mood.

The blues is filled with stuff for this. Hard Times by the mighty Ray Charles is a classic. Lately I've been into Martin Sexton, who has songs that are all over the place; the guy is sex in a cathedral with a gospel choir singing rock opera folk blues. The song Sugarcoating off the album of the same name is an interesting commentary on the whole 9/11 situation, Can't Stop Thinking About You is classic bluesy, Hallelujah is a happysad reflection on religion and society.

edit: ooo and goddamit don't forget Nina Simone. Her versions of Strange Fruit, Nobody Wants You (when you're down and out), I Put a Spell on You...all incredible.

I'm sick and tired of the way that I feel,
I'm sick of dreaming and its never for real.
I'm all alone with my deep thoughts.
I'm all alone with my heartache and my good intentions.

I work to eat and drink and sleep just to live,
Feels like I'm never getting back what I give.
Ive got a sad song in my sweet heart.
And all I really ever need is some love and attention

And I don't want to cry my whole life through,
I want to do some laughing too.
So come on, come on, come on, come on, laugh with me.
And I don't want to die without shaking up a leg or two,
Yeah, I want to do some dancing too.
So come on, come on, come on, come on, dance with me.

Xiu Xiu is fucking great for these. A lot of people don't like them, but if you can appreciate, they're the best <3.

I Luv the Valley, Oh!

Sad Pony Guerilla Girl

Ceremony (The last song ever written by Ian Curtis/Joy Division. The members didn't even have all the vocals before he killed himself. They only played it once or twice before forming New Order.)

Suha

Apistat Commander

Brooklyn Dodgers (A Promise version) I think the earlier version, on Fag Patrol, is on last.fm--I much prefer it.

Not sure if you're into rap or not also not sure if someone has mentioned this before (didnt read all the post 8)
But if your'e looking for some songs about "hating your life" or "your girlfriend cheating/leaving you" (which all included drug references) Look up this guy called
"RITTZ" He recently got signed by Tech N9ne's label Strange Music. Some of my favorite songs are
1. Nowhere to run (please listen to this one even if you HATE rap, it's very deep & touching)
2. Sleep at night ft. Yelawolf
3. For Real
4. Sober
5. Misery loves company
I LOVE RITTZ because hes not the typical "money, hoes, bling" kinda rapper. He raps fast and is actually good and raps about being broke having problems with meth, Xanax, Valium and alot of other drugs which i can closely relate

Also I mentioned Yelawolf at #2. check out his song "The last song" not REALLY considered "sad" but it is to me because it's about not having a dad. and being raised by a single mother so it makes a special connection

Sorry, no offense intended, but this takes the cake as far as I'm concerned...

As I draw up my breath,
And silver fills my eyes.
I kiss her still,
For she will never rise.
On my weak body,
Lays her dying hand.
Through those meadows of Heaven,
Where we ran.
Like a thief in the night,
The wind blows so light.
It wars with my tears,
That won't dry for many years.
"Love's golden arrow,
At her should have fled,
And not Death's ebon dart
To strike her dead."
