Depends on who you ask, it can be interpreted as mutually exclusive to the TV ending or an elaboration of it. It depends on whether or not you thought the original one ended in Shinji accepting or rejecting the human complementation/instrumentality project. And nothing in the series was particularly good (it tried to do great things and failed to pull it all together), in spite of the impact it has made, and how much I like it. The new movies do a fine job of fixing things so far, though they're going to go off in their own direction with the last two coming up...

Oh, and since some kind folks explained the absurdity of the OPs claims (though I don't doubt it was quite a crazy awesome thing to perceive yourself as capable of doing), this thread has outlived its usefulness. Good day to y'all.
