Disturbing in a good way. Which is the point of it...

I mean you don't really know if you should be feeling aroused when the naked dancing lady starts pouring fake blood into her mouth and letting it run over her body. Or when the dancing gorilla suit lady strips down and starts spitting pieces of banana at you whilst still pretending to be an ape.

I'll have another HOTMK night again soon. ;) <3

Today was spent at the Danks St Fest and the Monet exhibition. Now I'm home with a bottle of rosé. Absolutely perfect Sunday!

samadhi and popavich went to the monet exhibition today, you could have all gone together.

smiling because the above, and lots of other good friends were in sydney this weekend, and we had a tops time.

^ Did they like it? I was pretty underwhelmed. I got a free ticket though so it doesn't really matter. Maybe I'll win the art gallery's trip to Paris... (ha!)

I have been waiting for over a year for the next season of the american The Office to start and finally, FINALLY there's an episode on tonight! Fuck yes. Wish I hadn't read ahead now...

edit: I forgot to mention the best moment of the day. There was a kid who couldn't have been more than eight or nine who said, "WATER LILIES! Mum that's really famous! Is it a real copy of the original?" His Mum tried to explain it was the original painting, which took a while, but once he realised he ran up to the painting (in front of about 30 people trying to view it) and said, "Monet touched this painting!" like it was the greatest thing in the world. What a kid.

Is that a joke? The American series totally slaughters everything that was amazing about the British one. If there's one thing the Brits do well it's comedy... Well actually there is only one thing.

If you're talking about the first season I totally agree with you. Apparently they just did the British version verbatim and of course it wasn't going to work. I loved the British version so much my level of disgust was almost on par with my opinion of the american Kath & Kim. I watched an episode of the second season accidently, and it's seriously good. They now have their own story lines and it works so much better. I've never liked Steve Carell, but he does well considering he's following Ricky. Oh and:

I think I watched half an episode and never gave it another chance.

That actor does look uncannily, sort of like Tim from the English show...

See the thing about the original Office was a lot of the humour was extremely subtle and to do with the fact that it was supposed to be a (mocku) documentary. The American show was too over the top and sitcomesque. I hate sitcoms!

A Tawny frog mouth owl freaked the shit out of me tonight.

But, on further investigation he was so awesome and calm. I love birds :)

As I said, I hated the first season, but the later seasons definitely get the point of the British version. I think it works, but I'm sure there are millions who will disagree. I find it hilarious in its own right.

(Then again, I love Californication.) ;)

I love Californication too :)

I actually don't watch much TV at all but if I happen to be near one when it's on I'll give it another try...

No Heroics is good
Pub full of British superheroes and etc etc blah blah. Tis good.

^ That's awesome. I would've owed them over a grand this year because of my stupid HECS debt but fortunately I hadn't lodged my return for four years so previous credits covered it. Freakin' HECS.

I just set my flatmates car alarm off and all these people stopped and stared while I tried to work out what to do. And then I started laughing which made them frown even harder. But uhhh, yeah your battery is working fine flattie.

I am smiling because instead of running the tan tonight, my best mate and me went to cut across the gardens and came across the Myer Music Bowl. We jumped up on stage and pretended we were beastie boys and snoop and other performers we had seen, then Renee ran around the back and climbed to the top and put her head over the edge... so scary even to watch ! After that we took our shoes off and rolled down a hill, then sat in the beautiful sun and talked about how awesome the boy im seeing is.

Very silly and childish but it was fun!

There are so many differences between that two shows. one main difference is the character dynamic. David Brent is an epic loser, poor at his job, self unaware and uses the people around him for his own pointless benefit. Michael Scott is more of a doofus who is actually good at his job and seeks to build happiness in those around him.

Then there are the other background characters who get more of a workout in the US version and that in particular makes it very watchable

^i love shit like that. i'd been at mine 3 weeks before they took us all to the snow for the weekend as a congrats for the top job done on the previous financial year (i started in october)
