QUESTIONS QUESTIONS, I AM FREAKING OUT!!!

I have been taking Oxycodone 10/325 4-6 times a day for a month now. I was on Tylenol 3 for a month before that. I have started a taper plan, I want off of these things. I tried cold turkey and couldn't take it. So I went back to the 4 times a day. I talked with my dentist who got me on these thing to begin with. She put me on a plan it goes like this,
day 1-4 take a 5/325 3x a day, then day 5-9 take a 5/325 twice a day, then day 10-14 take a 5/325 once a day. Then stop all together. I did one day of 3x a day and felt ok. So I got cocky and decided not to take any the next day by 10 pm I was feeling awful so i went and took all 3 of my doses at once. I felt better almost immediately, the next morning I went back to my plan, I took 1 in the morning but still felt like crap until the second dose, which was 8 hrs later, after that I have felt fine. I am getting ready to take the third and final dose of the day. I have one more day of 3 x a day. Do you think this plan will work with no serious withdrawals if I follow it to its entirety, or am I going withdraw like hell anyways and am just prolonging the pain?

At this point, unless you drop yourself to something very very low over the period of a week or so you are going to experience a degree of mild discomfort. I would say that you could probably drop off of it, but just prepare yourself for cravings.

The cravings and psychological portion of this whole project will be the worst of it for you.

Hey dill boy
Thankfully you have only been on them for a month and are wise to get off sooner than later. The taper plan looks good to me but you must stick with it even if you feel good don't skip your scheduled dose. You might want to get some Imodium just incase but I really don't think your withdrawals will be much if any. Maybe just a couple days of mild flu like symptoms.

Dill.. your addiction is very mild. Take that with a grain of salt, as I know withdrawals can be TOUGH as a bitch.

First thing is first.. Tapers will rarely work. We are addicts, thus a taper turns into us wanting to get high and eating all the goodies. Thus, no taper. You can sit her and tell me a thousand times you won't do that, but just remember you're not always in control here. Your mind will TELL you to stuff those pills down your throat.

There are only 2 THINGS you can do, unless you want to become a long-time addict like a lot of us. Do you want to become of a long-time oxy/painkiller addict like us? I didn't think so. So PLEASE listen to me, because I have been down this road quite a few times. The 2 things you CAN do:

1) Give your prescription to your doctor. Tell him you'll come in and take the amounts you agreed to in a taper. He can probably even hand it off to a nurse so you can come in at free will and take the ALOTTED amount. Quite honestly, the WD will still be bad, as you'll just be WD slowly as your body adjusts to less amounts. The sharpness won't be as bad, but you're going to drag it out. If you leave it up to yourself to do the taper, mark my words, you'll be on here next year taking 2-3x as much of the drug. Almost positive.

2) Go cold turkey. What was so bad? Look, I've been through cold turkey at least 7-8 times. I know it's bad, and I know ways to make it more comfortable. And most of all, this is your LIFE. Make time to go cold turkey. Call out of school or work for 4 days. Hell, I told all my friends I had a business trip and took a plane down to Florida for 7 days JUST to get clean and be by myself. This is Life and Death. Think of the trials and tribulations of withdrawal as being a lesson to why you never want to use again. And dude.. at your usage? You'll be feeling almost normal in a week or two. Trust me. Would you rather feel EH for the next 3-4 weeks, or just put this behind you and go through it for 3-4 days? I would vouch for the latter, experiencing both methods.

I've been using for 3 years (on and off), and I'm up to 120-150mg/day. And I just went cold turkey almost 4 days ago. If I can do it, you can do it.
