hi bluelighters! this is my first time posting. i read through a lot of this site, and i didn't see anything that answers my question, so i feel i should post it here.
i'll ask my question first, then give a rather long (apologies to those of you who read slowly or can't concentrate for a long time!) background on what happened to me the other night, and then i'll re-pose my question.
do any of you use meth or other speed-substances only a few times a year? like once every 3 or 4 months?
ok, so now here's my story: i'm a happy, healthy, 21 year old girl from the east coast. i've taken ecstasy 8 times in my life, and haven't experimented much with any other drugs except for nitrous and pot, so when someone gave me meth and told me it was ecstasy, i believed what he said. the other night, i was at one of my favorite party spots, and a guy with whom i am aquainted asked me if i wanted any E. i hadn't rolled for about 2 months, so i was interested. i asked him what kind he had, and he said they were called green apples. i had never heard of them before, so i asked him questions about them. first i asked, "are they speedy or dopey?" and he replied, "well, umm... they're kinda in between." that seemed appropriate for the kind of night i wanted to have, so i purchased one for me and one for my boyfriend. we took them around midnight.
i immediately felt the effects of what i thought was very strong ecstasy. i was totally unable to stop moving, but this was ok with me, because there was tons of room to dance, and that night's jungle music was hitting me just right, so i danced the whole night away. i felt confident and beautiful, which isn't how i usually feel in day to day life. i was sweating profusely, but i didn't mind. i was dancing alone with many people watching me for hours, even though that would normally make me feel very scrutinized and afraid of looking bad. during the party, i was pleased with the drug experience, but my boyfriend was not. he kept telling me that he wasn't rolling and that he thought that we had gotten bad pills. i explained to him that i felt great, loved the pills, and was having the time of my life.
so anyway, at his request, we left the party and went home around 5:30am. (another friend of ours who had remained sober all night drove us home.) usually, i find it hard to stay awake til morning, because i have to get up at 6:45am on weekdays, so being awake for 24 hours on a friday often doesn't suit me well, and i am often the first one in my group of friends to get tired and ask to go home. however, this time, i returned home and tried to go to sleep, but couldn't manage to stay still or even keep my eyes closed. i finally fell asleep around 2pm saturday afternoon, and stayed asleep til 7am sunday morning when my boyfriend insisted that i get up because he was alarmed that i had slept for so long.
later that day, i went to pillreports.com. i intended to post a wonderful, glowing report, stating that i had the best roll of my life on these green apple pills. then i noticed that some other people had already posted reviews of them. they reported that they had tested the pills with a dancesafe.org kit (which, being a member of dancesafe, i can trust to give accurate results.) the pills turned out to be meth, and not E. other people wrote in to substantiate the fact that these pills were meth, and all of them were from my area, and had been taken the same week as i took mine, so it is almost certain that they came from the same source.
at first i was upset because the guy i had bought them from had quite obviously lied to me right to my face. when i asked if the green apple pills were speedy, he should have said that they were extremely so (being that they were speed and not E), or if he had not tested them himself and seriously didn't know that they were speed and not E, he should have admitted that to me. my boyfriend was very upset when i told him that i found out that the pills were really meth, for many reasons: he felt that $20 per pill of oral meth was very expensive, he was upset that i was lied to by one of my trusted raver acquaintances, and he was also upset because i really, REALLY enjoyed the experience, and he fears that i could end up harming myself.
its wednesday night now, and i've spent a lot of time thinking about meth. i definitely like it far more than E. meth gave me the kind of experience that i've always hoped for everytime i took an E pill. since it a better feeling (in my opinion) and should be cheaper (if i get it from a more honest dealer), i am considering ditching E and doing meth or other speed substances in its place. my boyfriend expressed that he felt it was a very bad idea for me to do that, since we've been rolling about once every month or two, so i asked what he thought of the idea of me taking it just a few times a year.
now, (after all that background info) comes my actual question for all you guys-- nowhere on this site (or other sites i have studied) are there reports of people who use meth or other speed substances just a few times a year. are there any of you out there? i know that speed-like substances have a very high potential for addiction, but i would hate to never have that beautiful experience again! do you guys think its possible for a person to use speed-products just 3 or 4 times a year?

i know how you feal about the meth...if you want to keep using it i suggest never buy more than 2 doses and try to keep it on a 1st a week basis.

It is easy to stay away from if it is not in your face all the time...
If it is a hassle to get it you should be right... If you find you can get it cheap from the guy next door... well thats a different story!
Self control is easy. Just don't get into a habit of doing it and you wont get hooked... if ya start EVERY weekend and then sometimes during the week or weeklong binges, THAT is where you might struggle with getting hooked.

I'm sure some people only use it a few times a year, it just depends on your personality. Some people can do some meth all day and then not think about it for months, others can't and either get hooked or hafta stop completely. If you feel that you think about it alot and can't get it off your mind, I suggest you stay away from it. But if you are confident in your self-control, then go for it.

You'll be fine mate.
Although I personally am a fairly regular speed user, I know lots of people who take speed only on special occasions, say five or six times a year.
If that's how you want to keep it then you'll have no problem, speed isn't hugely addictive.

I think that the important thing to bear in mind is that doing something once will not make you addicted (at least not in the physical sense of the word.) That goes for any addictive drug really.
The problem comes when you keep doing it. If you have a really good night on meth (or nicoteine, heroin etc) then the temptation the next day is to say "Oh, I feel really turd now but I'm sure a hit of whizz would make me much better"
At this point you don't HAVE to take another hit, but if you do then it's just one more you;ve done and before you know it you've been up for a week and the skin is hanging from your arms and the postman is sending you letter bombs.
If you can use once, and then forget it for a while, well then that should be just fine.
All MHO of course :)

Of course speed has a very high potential for addiction... I was/am addicted going on 2 years soon, but I do not use every day like I did when my addiction was "hardcore" or whatever, lol. I have done it exactly 3 times since i "quit" on easter--which is pretty damn good for an addict.
Its entirely possible for you to use meth in this way, the 3-6 times a year you spoke of, but it all depends on your strength of will and actual desire to keep it on that level.
A few tips:
Never buy a lot at once, buy JUST ENOUGH for your dose(s) that night and no more
Refrain from obtaining a close relationship with your meth dealer, the more you see him the more you'll think about it, the more you'll want it, the more you'll purchase, and the more you'll consume
Be STRONG in your convictions--you obviously care a lot about yourself and your well-being (why else would you be here asking us for advice?), set limits for yourself and STICK TO THEM! once you go back on or cross a limit/boundary/whatever, it'll just make it easier for you to do that again--and it'll just go farther and farther.
Try and keep your route of administration to oral, once you change that up the potential for addiction ONLY RISES!! Also, the damage done to your body is much worse with other routes.
Overall, be careful... you CAN do this, and IF you decide to, just make sure you do it RIGHT from the BEGINNING-- :) good luck.

i think if you subsitute it for MDMA, then you will have no problem with it. Just using it for clubs and raves or whatever. The addiction factor comes in when you realize meth can be used for almost anything. It can make so many things better besides just dancing and partying.

thanks for all the replies, guys! i think that i'll be able to handle using meth just a few times a year, because i'm a very strong girl (mentally and physically). i've always been able to moderate my use of E, nitrous and pot, and i was even able to lose 40 pounds in 4 months (with no drugs) so i consider myself to be pretty good at keeping cravings from taking over my mind. also, the benefits of the substance make it worth the sleepy day that comes after one comes down, and the going price in my area seems to be something i can afford on special occasions. also, as someone mentioned, it will be a lot easier for me to only use occasionally, because i don't have a relationship with a dealer-- i'll certainly never go back to the guy who gave me the meth pill i took last weekend, because he was dishonest. so thanks for taking the time to read my zillion page post, and i'll keep you guys updated on how things go next time. :)

My best friends wife blew her head off cuz she got so addicted to meth. tHE BANK CALLED MY FRIEND AND TOLD HIM LARGE AMOUNT of money has been taken out the last 3 days,,,, well, he called her from his work, dont know what the conversation was but when he got home she put
his 357 mag to her head. guess she new she had been caught and just snapped. left two small children with their dad. people NEED to know when to say,,, i better stop, before i HIT rock bottom.

^^^
Fuck, I've seen some pretty fried out speed freaks and had a couple of glass ashtrays thrown at my head, but that really hits home.
I think I'd better call this girl I know. Thankyou.
And condolences to you and your friend.

Meth addiction can be one of the worst addictions to deal with. On the other hand it usually doesn't go down *that* bad. Also, at least personally, meth seems far less addictive than alot of other drugs (such as heroin).

i was even able to lose 40 pounds in 4 months
Slow down, turbo!!! Don't you know that iner-beauty is more important than anything on the outside??? Just telling you this cuz losing so much in such a little time doesn't seem very healthy. I know you're trying to keep "cravings from taking over your mind", but most people I've known to take such extream measures to stay in control end up being the ones who destroy themselves(mentaly and physicly(sp?)) the most.
