Hypogonadism and TRT

About 5 years ago, my testosterone level was around 140 ng/dl and I was told I had hypogonadism that was the cause of my low levels. Only in my early 40's this was too early to be in male menopause, or so I thought. I took shots once a month, and that sucked bigtime. The first 7 days I could work like a bear, then slowly my energy would plummet to literally nothing by week 4.

After two months of this, I was put on Androgel 1%. This shit is expensive, but seemed to work. I would rub it all over my arms(sometimes chest). The bad part was that I needed to be careful and wash before sex, or make sure I wore a shirt so the hormones wouldn't be transferred to my partner. My highest tested level was 1200. It seemed to help my libido(good news for my S.O.), but I was getting super moody.

This didn't last too long as I wasn't going to keep spending $370 a month for packets and I could use my hard earned money on something better. I had bills to pay. I quit after 6 months.

The present: The last couple months of being on Fentanyl I have had a strange side effect of surprise 'wood' but they are not pre'dick'table and don't last. This has rekindled my interest in possibly starting TRT again.

Now the Q: Is there a better modality to get TRT than the androgel packets and more bang for my buck(pun intended). I don't know that much about current 'roids' or TRT although I did read a little about DHEA suppliments, but since I had 6' of my intestine removed, anything that I put in my mouth doesn't get absorbed very well.

Suggestions would be appreciated. (I know UTFSE)

you could run hcg to try get your balls back up and running depending if its primary or secondary hypergonadism either way my suggestion would be injectable testosterone enanthate or cypionate, 125mg (half a 1 ml amp) per week should put you in normal range depending on size, i run 200mg cyp per week but im 220lbs
125mg test cyp per week with 0.25mg adex every 3 days is a good stating point,
find a good source and dont use ug lab stuff for trt you want good pharm grade test thats of top quality and properly dosed, per month i send about £50 on my own trt

I use Tostrex, a 2% testosterone gel product, for HRT and it works really well.

Here in Europe, the most common drugs for HRT are different gel products, Nebido (testosterone undecanoate) injection 1000mg/4ml IM every 8-12 weeks, or Andriol capsules.
