why do amphetamines make me want to have sex like constantly i've spent 3 days with like only 10mg cig breaks every 4 hours being high on that shit i don't get it

Amphetamines act to stimulate neurotransmitter release, specifically forcing dopamine vesicules to release it. They are similar in structure to dopamine and get into the terminal button via dopamine transporters as well as diffusing through the membrane.

Libido in men (women are far more complicated) is heavily dependent on DA, but is still effected by a host of other steroids, neuropeptides, and neurotransmitters. To get an idea, the following all modulate libido: Testosterone, DA, 5-HT, NE, ACh, Histamine, alpha-MSH, Leptin, beta-Endorphin, Estradiol, DHEA, Pregnenolone, Progesterone, LH, Cortisol, Aldosterone, Vasopressin, Oxytocin, BDNF, NGF, T3, T4, TRH, Prolactin, CRH, Orexin, and probably dozens more. The point is that the majority of "major players" in the brain have a substantial effect on libido, so boiling it down to DA is highly simplistic.

With that out of the way, many men do find that DAergic drugs have substantial effects on libido. These are not mediated by prolactin, however, except in cases of prolactinoma. Instead, DA mediates its effects on libido primarily at the level of hypothalamus, though also in other parts of the limbic system, including the mesolimbic system (VTA -> NAc) and the hippocampus. Truthfully, the processes and regions regulating libido are not fully understood.

Eventually the libido-enhancing properties will become desensitized and you'll likely experience a decrease in your natural libido level.

no i mean all i can think about if i'm not focused doing something else is sex and i can go until the high stops which sometimes is days
