I stumbled across some of these pills (14 25mgs) in my search for oxies. I have read all I can find on them, but I'm getting mixed reviews as far as their recreational value. I know they can be used to potentiate narcotic pain killers, and some report that they are similar to benzos. I have anxiety, but benzos in the past have just made me sleepy.

So I'll take them regardless, but does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

that's not really the best approach to take on a Harm Reduction site.

by themselves, they are good for therapeutic value, like getting to sleep, stopping itchiness, etc..., but they are best saved for when you have opiates to potentiate if you are looking for recreational value.

^^agreed. They're best used for what they were designed to be used for, antihistamine stuff, itching, going to sleep, etc. Amazing at helping opiates out.

Hydroxyzine has helped me with anxiety but not nearly as much as benzos, and I find it to be more sedating than benzos. If you consider that "recreational" then its recreational...

Alone? Recreational value of this very old antihistamine is almost non-existent. It'll bring about typical antihistamine effects, and for a short while (couple weeks at the most) it might yield some unimpressive anxiolytic effects.

Like said above, they can be effective potentiators for analgesics like opiates and sometimes barbiturates (which you won't get these days anyway, most likely). I use them almost solely to help me go to sleep. When I lived in Singapore (a country that's very tight-assed about prescribing effective/potent meds), some doctor gave me hydroxyzine under brand name Atarax as "a very effective anxiolytic". Right. Thanks doc. How 'bout some lorazepam instead?
