I have bad allergies and bad stomach problems. The most effective antihistamine I've found is hydroxyzine, but taking it makes my stomach feel like I swallowed an ember. In fact, I get nasty stomach problems or worse from all antihistamines.
Hydroxyzine can be given as an IM injection. I want to talk to my doctor about possibly giving myself injections, either regularly or whenever things get bad. (And by "bad" I mean swelling limbs or trouble breathing.) Before I do that, I want some honest information on the risks and benefits.
I know it has to be IM, because it can damage veins. Is it likely to cause tissue damage from being given IM? What are the long-term effects of regular injections?
