Hydromorphone - Worth my time?

To someone who can get Oxycontin/codone and Morphine Sulfate, is Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) worth getting?

Like what other opiate would the high compare to? And what's the best method of ingestion (no needles, just snorting, parachuting, or straight eating). Any info on the doseage/addiction potential would be great too.

Thanks a lot for any info.:D

Well if you are opposed to IVing it, I do know the nasal bioavailability is 52.4%. Hydromorphone undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism resulting in oral bioavailability of about 25%.

And EsourceR, you are incorrect. Morphine sulphate is only about 5X as strong as hydromorphone.

Hmm.. so I guess I should stick to oxy and morphine? I don't really enjoy snorting, it usually fucks with my nose for the next few days..

What could I get a better high off of? Oral morphine or oral hydromorphone?

from my experiance it is worthless if you dont bang it

I agree, but I'd suggest against it. It's probably the most intense opiate "rush" one can get, and it's very short lived, leaving the potential for a very shitty addiction. I've just started bupe and haven't shot it since, but before I was doing it daily and it sucked. If you're a really strong willed person who doesn't have steady connect for it, or an addictive personality then I'd say once won't hurt (but it's really hard to only do once for most). Anyways, you said you wouldn't bang it so I'd say no it isn't worth getting. However, if you already have it and just refuse to bang it then I'd say snorting it would be the next best thing.

good advice synto i was not really advocating shooting them but as i look back i see that is the only way my comment could be recieved .i would say that banging hydromorphone is a fastst track to a nasty habit

i agree.. it couldnt hurt to try.
Personally i'd rather do oxycontin over it any day.....

If you're referring to banging it then I'd probably disagree. It definitely hurt me to try. I started booting it a couple months ago with a 350mg+/day Oxycontin habit and afterwards I couldn't stop. Actually I last booted it a little over a day ago, and now I'm trying bupe, but the urges to go back to the dilaudids and oxy is about beyond control and like I said it's only been a little over a day or so.

no i wasnt talking about banging it..cause he said he doesn't use needles..

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll try a few and see what happens.

Also, I don't want to start a new thread, so can someone tell me what would be better? A shitload of Oxycontin or a shitload of Oxycodone? There is a differance right? Sorry, this is the first time I've seen Oxycontin.

Oxycontin is merely a time-release version of Oxycodone. Crushing the Oxycontin tablet will destroy a large portion, (yet not all of), the time-release mechanism. They are the same chemical, though Oxycodone itself tends to be paired with another OTC painkiller; either Acetaminophen or Aspirin (Percocet or Percodan) with the exception of OxyFast, Oxy IR [One of which I believe is created for exclusively intravaneous ussage in patients]; these medications, (and evenOxycontin), are all pretty bio-available when digested orallly inside the body. The only difference between OC's and oxycodone is that the Oxycontin tablets last about twelve hours when eaten whole, whereas a Percocet tablet, for eample, would last 4-5 hours.

Both are fine eaten.

However Oxycontin has gained notoriety amongst the drug users themselves and the media through methods of administration including rectal, nasal and intravaneous routes. Oxycontin has been demonized because it is able to be insufflated and/or injected (properly!!!)) which leads to a much more intense rush. I personally prefer the rush over the slow come-up of an Oxycodone high. Percocet, Percodan, etc. dont have the rush due to the high amount of binders, fillers and APAP/Aspirin mixed in with the Oxycodone molecule, as well as the fact that they need be digested..

Anyway, yeah.

edit: sorry if this was a bit incoherent. I was and am still nodding off as I type these sentences! Ironic that I'm nodding off trying to supply answers to opioid related questions, isnt it?

Peace bras

Nice man, great info, just what I was looking for. I'm thinkin it doesn't matter much to me weather its contin or codone because I don't plan to shoot it at all, or snort it often. If they are the same price I'll get contin for sure, but if codone is a better deal I'd probably go with that. Thanks again.

No problem at all. If you're planning on buying 'contin vs. 'codone, you might want to stick with the oxycodone itself, because then there is no need to break the time release on the Oxycontin pills (even thoroughly pulverizing the pill does not remove ALL of the time-release mechanism!). The only stipulation I would have about this is that you watch your daily intake of APAP (do not exceed four grams per day), because the oxycodone products always have APAP or Aspirin in them unless you're lucky enough to get Oxy IR (pure oxypowder)... but those only come in low dosages:\

Again, hope that helps.

[edit] Though this isnt in the spirit of harm reduction, I may as well offer my personal view on the matter;
When rarely presented with the option of purchasing Oxycodone, in any of its forms, I generally tend to choose the O.C.'s because snorting them has got to be one of the greatest feelings on earth. You cant snort Percocet, Ultracet, Percodan, Endocet, etc.... though they can give you certain euphoria, snoritng is unsurpassed:D
Except maybe by banging the pills, but that's a little further than I'm willing to go in my already reckless and vast sea of drug use.

Good luck, just find which works better for you and stick with it like you would a beautiful woman!;)

Contin is better cause there's no tylenol in it...plus they come in way bigger dosages....like 40mg oxycodone, 80mg..... oxycodone tablets come at the most in 10mg i think mixed with a bunch of tylenol...i could be wrong..maybe only 7.5 is the most. If you only need like 20mg to get high though, oxycodone tablets would be better to get if they are cheaper..

Keep in mind you should factor in how much you are getting for your buck...just cause a 5mg oxycodone/tylenol tablet is $5 or something and a 40mg oxycontin tablet is $20, doesnt mean the oxycodone tablet is a better deal....do the math...you get me, right?

As it stands, we are both correct. But thanks for keeping me on my toes. I administer these drugs daily. But not to myself ...so i guess it's subjective in the same form.

It can be up to 10x stronger ...depending on the method of administration.
Take oral morphine and convert it to dilaudid IV.

Its analgesic potency is from 2 to 8 times that of morphine source

A relative potency analysis indicated that hydromorphone was 10 times as potent as morphine (1 mg hydromorphone=10 mg morphine). source

zeke - morphine is naturally occuring and dilaudid is semi-synthetic if that's what you meant by "stronger"
