SWIM has been addicted to opioids for 6 months now he started smoking Roxy’s and for the past 3 months he moved to injecting Dilaudid (Hydromorphone). More recently SWIM has been doing 5-6 8mg dillies a day. He doesn’t do more than 1 pill at a time. He doesn’t get that much of a rush because he has been doing them too frequently. So anyway today, he really didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. He does his pill by coldshaking them(doesn’t filter them... just backloads them into syringe adds hot water shakes it up then shoots... he has been doing it this method a few months now when he gets the right pills) I’m telling you this because idk if it has anything to do with what happened. The most recent pill he did.. Everything seemed normal. He got his little bit of a rush that he enjoys and that slowy went away in like 20 seconds. Then he was high. And like 5 minutes after he did it he was sitting at his PC and his heart started racing and racing he instantly jumped up and started walking and pacing around in a panic. He said it felt like his heart was beating a million times a minute. he was so close to calling 911 because he had no idea what was going on. This has never happened to him before. He didn’t hit any weird vein or he didn’t use any cotton so it couldn’t have been cotton fever. This went on for like 5 minutes and it slowly started to get better. It scared the shit out of him. It couldn’t have been an overdose right? Overdoes don't have any symptoms like this that I have read about? Unless there's a like different type of overdose? Anyone have any explanation?

That is a very weird reaction. I've never heard of overdose symptoms like that either because obviously when one overdoses on opioids, they get respiratory depression, not a really fast heartbeat. Since it couldn't be cotton fever anyway I'm guessing some kind of inactive binder in the pill or something? Shooting pills is bad anyway. You'd be better off shootin some dope tbh.

For your own sake, please use a micron filter. You're doing serious damage to your body directly injecting pills. Someone who knows IV-technique better than me will probably reply as well, but check out the IV MEGATHREAD, you'll find a lot of good knowledge there.

Also, we don't use SWIM here, it's clear you're talking about yourself. (And SWIMming doesn't provide any legal protection.)

While its impossible for any of us to say with certainty what happened it sounds like an acute reaction to injecting the numerous fillers and binders present in a pill directly into your bloodstream. Injecting pills is foolish to begin with but doing it without a micron filter (or any filter) is just asking for trouble. If any of the insoluble binders travel round to the heart or lungs then the result could well be an embism which could drop you dead "like a sick puppy at the vets" (as a colleague of mine would put it). Not to mention the possible risk of sepsis from the injection of highly unsterile matter.

Please rethink what you are doing. It sounds like you've had a lucky escape this time but in future you may not be so lucky.

Take care and stay safe

Sounds like you had a panic attack. Having said that, you really need to be using cold water and then filtering your shots.

I second Tommyboys suggestion although that panic could've been set off by a number of things although of course the most obvious one is paranoia and fear of screwing up..... Then again you should be using a micron filter and that's freaking 40-48 mg hydromorphone? Maybe that's the problem there slow down on those things....

I can't even get the new zohydro in attempts to reduce my dose from 15-20 mg a day to just 10 mg at night released over 12 hours because of "abuse and respiratory depression risk.” Stupid thing is the sustained release oc or opana formulations are easier for the pharmacy to get if I have a script even though they both have higher risk of those issues. Stupid system because people don't use their meds right or at least practice harm reduction not only in their use method, but dosing and lifestyle.... As long as someone takes the time, effort, and funding earned from their own legitimate work to understand how to use correctly and not work with anything less then the best filters, rigs, substance, water, workspace, etc. then no problem should develop in theory.

Then again why not just put that energy into obtaining property and building a hot tub or starting a backyard garden? It would pay off in the long run better I am sure of it where the heavy iv use takes away your strength as you inject it in. (Stole that from a one flew over the Coocoo's nest where the cheif talked how the alcohol took his fathers strength as he drank the bottle hoping to gain strength).

Anyways sorry if I smashed on you a bit definitely just annoyed the zohydro is retardedly hard to obtain..... Special paperwork and whatnot. Stupid public health care system.

Edit: You're lucky I'm a good swimmer most around here don't like to swim.

Yea im gonna go with everyone else on here and say its the binders and fillers clogging up your heart so it had to work harder. No offense but that is REALLY fucking stupid not to filter. O dont usually like to criticize people, but damn that was dumb man... at least filter it with a fucking cotton if ur not gonna use a micron a cotton would probably filter at least 50% of the shit out...ur not gonna lose much of the drug and if ur worried about thay u can always save ur cottons (do NOT put them somewhere where they CANT air out) and then i find with dillies usually about 6 or 7 cottons for a cotton shot will feel just like a shot of the dillie u did!

Dillie is incredibly water soluble. I can fit like five or six eights at least in 30 units of water, and the rinses do nothing. I cannot believe you are shooting the whole motherfuckin pill. The binders are probably collecting in your extremities, in your eyeballs, heart, and lungs, and I wouldn't be surprised if you started to develop kidney problems as well.

Jesus use a cotton at least. Those are the safest pills on the market to bang but not if you're doing something like that!

Did he by chance have any sort of rash? Sounds like it could be a histamine release reaction made worse by anxiety over what was happening.
