hydromorphone insomnia? wtf.

i've been picking up a few 24mg hydromorphone capsules lately, as my normal dealer for down has been AWOL. 3/4 of a cap, railed, gets me quite pinned, and sends me into a blissful state much like that of heroin.

however, a couple of the nights i've noticed myself entirely unable to sleep. my mind fills with an uncontrollable, psychedelic train of thought in which i find myself thinking multiple thoughts at once, and find myself thinking and answering complex strings of 10-12 thoughts in mere seconds.

this intense mental activity prohibits any ability of mine to sleep, which is quite strange, because (naturally,) any opiates i take have the tendency to knock me out quite easily. even though i choose to stay awake most of the time, there's never been a problem drifting into a state of serene , rested sleep.

so wtf is up with this?

yeah, opiates can have weird effects on sleep. I usually do not have a problem falling asleep on them (though sometimes i did with oxymorphone because i would just nod back awake for hours), but once i am asleep i have weird, extremely real feeling dreams where I get stuck in the loop where you wake-up from one dream into another dream, until I eventually really do wake up, all confused about whether or not I am dreaming.

i think the combo of the opiate high along with the haziness of sleepiness just can have weird, trippy effects on the mind.

yeah, that happens to me all the time. dreams where you just wake up from another dream, or dreams that are so normal and life-like that you can't tell the difference from reality (like a dream where you get up and take a piss, go back to bed, and then wake up. wtf.)

sometimes after a good dose of heroin i get this gnarly effect where i can see through my eyelids when i close them. i always hope to get this effect, it's really cool. i'll see my room exactly as it is, with a few select changes (last time, there were muffins all over the floor...)

despite all this i can still get to sleep 100% on any other opiates.

I believe that certain brands can be different and it's a lie when they say that generics are essentially the same. I had horrific nightmares after given oxycodone from a surgery I had. I don't remember the brand though. When my dosage was increased of course the tolerance went up. After a few years I know what to expect. The mallinkropt (can't spell) was what I always seemed to get and used to them. I had once gotten the perdue version and they knocked me down! Not just nodding but woke up under the coffee table one night. I'm lucky I didn't bust my head open.

exact same thing happens to me with hydromorphone, oxy and heroin. I can't sleep on them and my mind goes to fucked up places.

I have trouble sleeping on a few of the stronger opioids, and hydromorphone is one of them.

Hydromorphone, dope, oxycodone, oxymorphone all make it hard for me to sleep. I can nod but i keep waking right back up and until I'm not high anymore sleep is hard.

Isnt that nuts? You can nod so hard you end up in places you didn't start from (standing at kitchen sink, under coffee table, lol, me, personally, am famous for the ole' potty nod), yet when you "come to", you're wide fucking awake with your high out the window. That pisses me off.

Christ, I can't tell you how many times doing my potty nod that I've "come to" and look at my rig sitting there and can't remember the actual act of banging. It's so weird. Other times it's so subtle, I barely notice much of an effect at all...that goes for all three...oc's, dillies and H.

Seeing thru your eyelids? Wow, thats neat. Although, admittedly, I think that would freak me out.

Has anyone had the double vision thing happen after a hit...where you literally have to close one eye to see striaght (much like a good alcohol drunk?). That's freaky as hell. That happens to me quite frequently.

not being able to sleep may have to with the dopamine increase, as dopamine is stimulating. i've never had trouble going to sleep on any opiate, and i'm pretty seasoned in that area. i just fall asleep after the peak when i start to nod. never had any "psychedelic" thoughts either.

You're more likely to just be unconscious rather than in an actual state of sleep when it comes to Opiates.
Inability to sleep, as you can see, is rather common :)
Maybe try taking an Antihistamine before you go to bed?

All the time, when I'm totally blitzed I can't focus on shit. I haveto shake my head or rub my eyes to see straight.
