I'm currently prescribed 15mg daily of Hydrocortisone cause my Adrenal Glands weren't making enough Cortisol.

I've recently started lifting again and was wondering if the HC will stop my gains at all or with it just being a replacement will I be fine?

I'm also on methadone maintenance (20mg daily) , but I take around 120mg-150mg 2-3x a week to get high.

I've had blood work done and my testosterone is fine, it's just my cortisol levels that aren't right!

I'm 5'11/6' and 10 stone 4pounds, really skinny arms. It's my arms I'd really love to bulk up.

What exercises are really good for the arms? Thx people!

cortisol is catabolic but if your body isn't producing it then you need to supplement it.. I'd suggest taking as little as possible because it will make gaining muscle difficult. you should consult your doctor though.

did/do you have addison's disease?

how are your test levels and GH/IGF levels? Did you have those checked also? What about insulin sensitivity? Those are the anabolic hormones I would be curious about in your position. Thats not a huge dose of methadone so hopefully that is not suppressing you very much.

^if its a choice between methadone and going to the gym or heroin and no gym because your too busy trying to score then its no choice at all....

As for increasing arm size the exercises I would recomend would be - #1 bench press (tris), #2 arnold press (delts), #3 tricep pulldowns (tris), #4 chin-ups (or bicep curls) (bi's). If you do all of these exercises and eat lots then you should put on mass no probs.

As for the corisone/cortisol issue I wouldn't worry about it. If the doc is prescribing it to supplement your natural levels and bring them up to normal then it shouldn't cause you any probs...

hydrocortisone is not helpful but if you have to take it, then you gotta do what you gotta do.

It was counterproductive for me. I could not get pumped because the stuff is an anti-inflamatory (swelling of tissue). If you are not getting a good pump, the tissue is not tearing down on a micro level.%)

It's not Addison's aanallein, I think it's just adrenal insufficiency, to be honest I don't know what it is. The doc's haven't said, I'm gonna ask next time I go to the hospital.

You say it was counter-productive, are/were you prescribed it cause of addisons disease or some form of adrenal insufficiency or were you taking it for something else?

The reason I ask if cause I have to take it otherwise I'll get seriously ill and end up dying from the withdrawl. :\

It sounds like you have exacally what I have its called CAH or Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia- which is due to 21-hydroxylose deficency. There is the salt wasting kind and then the non salt wasting kind. Salt wasting is worse, but from your dosage I would guess its the lesser of two evils :) Have they tried any other medications yet.. there is the Hydrocortisone-and Dexamethasone- and also one ive never been on which is the Fludrocortison..

This thread is old as fuck, but taking it might not be counterproductive since it brings your cortisol levels to normal ranges anyway. I'd at least suggest taking it as far away from your workout as possible. Like right as soon as you wake up.
