I've finally broke down and joined this forum and hopefully I get the right answer I'm looking for. I've tried searching the forum for this question already so I pray my thread isn't closed.

I've been doing opiates about 3 years now, starting with hydrocodone, only on occasion. About a year ago I had gotten ahold of some pure hydrocodone(around 3.5 grams and damn was it great....), but after it ran out inbetween me using bumps and getting what I would think 40-60mg's, and giving it away to people, it was gone after about a month, and I tried using pills again and I was only used to taking a max of 2 10's, I had to take 3 just to feel ANYTHING! I tried oxy and roxy but never got totally addicted to them. But anyway to the point.

I've been doing anywhere from 40-120mg of hydrocodone a day for about 6 months. I'm making a sinsere effort to get off the stuff.

The first day I used 75mg.
The second day I used 30mg.
Yesterday I took nothing, and now comes today.

My withdrawls are more annoying than they are bad, such as insomnia, restlessleg, diarreah, stomach cramping, lack of appetite, ect. Thankfully not those dreaded coldsweats I've experienced after oxy/roxy bindges.

So my question today is, if I were to take only 15mg(2 7.5's) today, and 15mg tommorow, would this set me back that greatly? I honestly am not seeking to get high, because 15mg will obviously not do shit for me, I just want to be able to have an appetite and try to get some sleep, do you guys think this will set me back?

Well considering you are only 1 day into your detox, it shouldn't set you back too far, just prolong it kinda. If you have access to a decent amount of hydro, you are better off doing a taper over a few weeks or a month or whatever. This way once you do finally jump off your dose will be practically nothing, thus making the withdrawals much more tolerable.

I agree, it sounds like taking 15mg won't set you back too much, considering where your tolerance is now. The best plan is probably to take that 15mg and then start your taper from there, well, continue your taper. Withdrawal is going to suck either way, but the longer you make your taper the easier it will be. And I mean, a LOT easier.

Countless people on this board will attest to the taper method, its the way to go when coming off of opiates....and benzos and pretty much everything else.

Good luck with your detox man, and keep us posted. :)

15mg's today and tomorrow will not set you back, in fact I would even use more and start a taper. Your dose wasnt extremely high, you werent doing 600mg's of hydro, which is a good thing. I would always tell someone who was a moderate to heavy user to never quit cold turkey. The best thing to do is taper yourself off,and as already said the longer and slower the taper the better chance of success getting clean. Or to start a methadone taper or use suboxone which I dont have any experience with.

If you can use 30mg's of hydro and get through a day with no WD then you are on your way. I would use 30mg's daily for 5-7 days, then drop to 25mg's for 5-7 days, and drop 5mgs every 5 to 7 days until youre off. The toughest part about a taper is being strict with your dosage and not getting dragged back into your old habit.

If you cannot function on 30mg's per day and have daily responsibilities raise the dose and taper the same way.

Thats just an example, you can come up with your own taper that you think will help you best. If you dont have the luxury of doing a taper there are only a couple things I can think of that will really help. Using benzos is #1, xanax especially, would help the WD's, but you have to be strict so you dont get addicted to them. Muscle relaxers such as soma, flexeril also can help to a lesser degree. Also medications such as gabapentin or lyrica can help to a lesser degree. Taking some medications that help you get sleep could also help by allowing you to sleep through as much of the WD as possible.

You can use the search to find more WD guides. I think this thread may be closed for that reason. Good luck.

some people react different man. I know when I had my 4 month every day binge I had the same shit happen to me donuzi. My suggestion is just do what you feel you need to do. I think most of the stomach cramping I had and the feeling of needing to shit and not shitting is mainly from the tylenol. Those things youre taking are horse pills. I would honestly either stop for awhile or take 1 a day until you can get more and drink some pepto. it helped me a tad bit. avoid alcohol! I thought that would help and I always wound up on the floor (tylenol) curled in a ball for 30mins moaning because I think the tylenol in those really tears you up.

Bananas is right, I think a lot of people forget how much goddamn Tylenol (the devil's own medicine!) is in vicodin, lortab, etc. I broke my hand in a bike accident last year and had to beg the doctor to give me Norco instead of generic Vicodin so I could at least be taking 325mg Tylenol a dose instead of fucking 750mg.

I honestly think the Tylenol was put in these meds for the sole reason of making them harder to abuse and making the side effects of any sort of chronic use a living hell...but that's off topic :P

you could maybe get some codeine/APAP pills to ease your W/D... nd immodium will help wih the shits... also some ynotic benzos for sleep would help (loprazolam, temazepam etc...) but don't do these for more than 2 weeks or you WILL get addicted, and its even nastier tan opiate W/D

Taking opiates while in withdrawals will set you back, no matter what dose you take. Think about it...

If you could take opiates during withdrawal and not be set back, don't you think everyone would find it much easier to get through withdrawals?

The hydrocodone will let you have an appetite and get some sleep, but when it wears off, you're back at square one.

Try searching before posting new threads, too, and post in the right forum. This same question is asked quite often, and it belongs in Basic Drug Discussion.
