hydrocodone tolerance question

Ok here's a little background I've been doing hydro/oxycodone for 3 years now and usually two tens is enough to wake me up get going etc. Last week a dr put me on adderall and so I stopped taking my pain meds for one week. Now that I've stopped taking the adderall (made me sick) I decided to take my pain meds again.

I only took 15mg and it actually made me tired? weird right?! could I have lost my tolerance after just a week? Probably stupid question just curious if anyone knows. Thanks either way

Actually yes you lose tolerance any amount of time you go without a drug in your system, and plus were only talking about a difference of 5mg. If you would have taken only like 5mg as opposed to your normal 20 and felt some pronounced effects then that would be little odd, but going from 20mg to 15mg after a week and still feeling it is nothing to be concerned about, and just so you know, most tolerance ranges are measured in +/- 5mg for most opiates.

put it this way, i shoot heroin, i once had a 5 bag shot 6x a day habit, got clean for 2 weaks did 2 bags (of the same shit i always get) and OD'd so yeah your tolerance shoots down quick but dont forget it gets back to where it was just as fast, if not faster.

wow ya'll I had no idea it could be that quick. I need to take breaks more often lol so I don't go through my meds so fast :) Thanks for the info I decided after my second nap today from the meds that I would try 10 and that seems to be the perfect amount for motivation and happiness yet still alert and not sleepy.

my84 thats craziness I'm glad you're ok I bet that wasn't a pleasant experience and I wouldn't expect that either.

How long do opiates stay in your system once you've taken your last dose? Just wondering cause I will run out tomorrow but get my mega refill on Monday YAY!

Thanks again good info!!!

There's acute tolerance which occurs when the drug is in your system and you have to take more and more to achieve desired effects because your blood plasma levels are saturated with the drug and acute tolerance ends when you stop taking it and your body fully metabolizes the remaining amounts in your system. Chronic tolerance is long-term and will more than likely stick with you for years if not the rest of your life, but not to worry, its not as bad as an acute tolerance. With a chronic tolerance it just means that, let's say, if you take 30mg of hydro every day for 5 years and stop for a year, then chances are if you take 10mg after a year you should be alright. Hope this shed a little light on the situation. ;)

Well Hydrocodone's half-life can be up to 6 hours but as short as 4. Which means if you take 10mg, then 6 hours later you have roughly 5mg in your system. Then after another 6 hours, 2.5mg, then 1.25 ... and so on until its all absorbed into your body and metabolized, but in reality you will lose any real therapeutic effects after the plasma levels even out around 5-6 hours. If you need to stretch it until Monday it would be a wise idea to save a couple and set off to the side and only take them in halves throughout the weekend when you really need them.

b4 i read that i was gunna say herion users can take 4 bags and quit and come back and take 3 bags and it will kill them.... you beat me too it
To the OP, opiates tolerance goes away quickly, don't OD

delrio - I'm not worried about it lasting reality is it wont cause i only have 4 5mgs left but I wish it could! I'll be fine its almost like withdraw is something i expect everyweek at some point which i'm sure alot of others have to go through just as often. Thanks for the explaination though so by monday then I def won't be taking my full dose (i get 7.5 percs) which is usually 2. thanks so that saves me the trouble of passing out at work due to too much lol :)

Yeah I have moderate, acute 12 hour WD's about once a week too, I know the feeling. But you should be fine by Monday, and yeah I would play it safe and just take one 7.5 perc, as oxycodone is around 1.5x more potent than hydrocodone, so technically your 7.5 oxy would be equal to a 10mg hydro in a pharmaceutical sense so keep that in mind.

See I didnt know that either! Good stuff thanks

your body could be just withdrawing from the amphetamines still and not allowing the pain meds to be at there full potential. give it another week!

well i got my meds today so I'll start low instead of taking my normal dosage (not that its alot) I only took the adderall for 4 days would i really be having withdraws from it? Honest question i dont know what length of time you have to be on something to withdraw :)

yeah your tolerance actually went down and you were entering a nod. I always enjoyed that nice lil speedy effect opiates nodding I could never get anyhting done.

when i use to mix amphetamines and opiates i wouldn even feel the opitate it would just feel like it was slowing me down a little bit but not anywhere near the effects i would of if i had none in my system

Hydrocodone does nothing for my pain, I find it a little stimulating, if anything.
I CWE 20 10/325's a while back, plugged all at the same while I dont recommend
anybody doing this, it was bunk...

Hydrocodone is pretty fickle for some people, if you've got a tolerance (or serious pain), it won't do too much for you.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you, though, F&W

Yes tolerance lowers quickly, somewhat. But it raises back up pretty quickly too. I always find if I only take a short break that my tolerance is only lowered for a couple days, then I'm right back to where I was, for the most part.

Tolerance Is a fickle little bitch

Dammit threat, beat me to my word.
