hydrocodone question

They are coming out with some.
google zo-hydro

Application was filed this month with the FDA for zo-hydro

I don't know why they are marketing this when there is pure oxycodone in both IR and ER formulations. I'm not sure why anyone would even use it recreationally unless it was on your drug bucket list or something

As for why they are coming out with an ER version of hydrocodone without tylenol, well why not? Some people are prescribed 3,4, or even 8 pills of hydrocodone a day, so why not make the ER version of it so they can take less pills, and not risk the liver damage? If hydrocodone treats their pain fine, then why switch to a more potent opiate? The new ER hydrocodone will serve to better bridge the gap between hydrocodone and oxycodone. Also, a lot of people don't like the new ER version of oxycodone ("OP" OxyContin) so they may be able to switch to the ER hydrocodone which they may find is more effective.

Also, compound pharmacies have been making hydrocodone without the tylenol or ibuprophen for a while. This isn't something that is completely new, it's just being manufactured by a pharmaceutical company now instead of having to find a special pharmacy to compound it for you.

There are many legitimate pain patients who find hydro to be much more easily tolerated than oxy..
due to side effects including nausea, stimulation; including some ppl finding that it makes them extremely edgy @ higher dosages... also trouble sleeping..etc.

And, I'm happy that, finally, this will be more readily available to those people..
It's way passed time for hydro to be found w/o the liver killer...
Yeah , it'll be a pain now...being scheduled differently due to the lack of apap and ibuprofen..
but it's time, imo.

yeah thts what i was thinking...

Cant wait until these come out...........:)
*IF* it is approved. The application was just filed with the FDA this month. I think there will be plenty of alarmists making noise about this one. And then the alarmists will go home and get nice and drunk, legally, on Jack Daniels.

^^^Brilliant. ;)

thought it was slated to be on the market by 2013...
I find drunk alarmists very alarming..
as well as *IF*....

I don't find hydrocodone particularly eurphoric, and it's certainly more sedating than oxycodone. For these reasons I'd prefer it over oxy for legitimate use. I could actually manage my pain, with a drug I am not likely to get hooked on (certainly less likely than oxy) and without the APAP I could take appropriate doses for my tolerance without risking liver damage.

I admit, if you come at this from an abuse angle it's a non-starter for most people. If you look at it as a legitimate pain medication, it's a clear winner. As it stands with my tolerance my options are oxycodone which would definitely suck me in, or Demerol, which is basically a potent poison that gets you high and kills your pain for 90 minutes, 2 hours if you're lucky. Or I could use fentanyl, but my back hurts, it's not actually broken anymore so fent is kind of an overkill.
