Does anyone else feel like the high from vicodin or norcos is way more potent when taken first thing after waking? Id assume its because i am taking it on an empty stomach and brraking a fast which causes my stomach to be more active. Any other theories or similar experiences?

Best time to take opiates is in the morning, imo. That way you get to enjoy the high with a restored, fresh mind, and you are left with a nice, opiate afterglow for the rest of the day, especially with longer-acting opioids like tramadol (O-Desmethyltramadol has a half life of 9 hours).

Also, opiates diminish sleep quality, so you get to enjoy a deeper, more refreshing sleep when going to sleep after the opiate has worn off.

I think every drug is felt most when taken soon after waking up, especially opiates, psychedelics, stimulants, and cannabis.

Definitely, gets you going in the morning. You do 'em at night and don't get the full potential of the productivity of your high. I'm on some Suboxone myself but that's a different story. (7:20AM where I am)

I feel they're more potent in the morning as well. Of course, that probably has to do with the fact I've had my ~6 hours of sleep and I'm on a runner's high because I (try to) exercise in the morning. So runners high + opiate high = mega super turbo high HD remix.

Another factor can be that while you are sleeping you are not taking any medication.
Therefore your body and mind is close to baseline after sleeping for 7 or more hours.
So it's like taking your medication into an unmedicated body at that time.

I missed that part - tolerance goes down ever so slightly if you don't dose at bed time (I would think).

Ive been wanting to do the same. I have a mean case of strep throat right now (so the dr tells me) and im not up for it. I can say back when i smoked herb it was always an awesome high doing it soon after a burnout run!

I have to take the hydros in the mornin to get going its a must. I don't know what it is truly either but they do help more first thing in the morning than in the middle of the day.

To me it just feels like the tiredness converges into what you think the high is. That's how wakin' and bakin' works for me too.
