Hydrocodone in Poppy?

This report from a website by a mom who's son is said to have died from poppy seed tea. The report claims a 'tea' made from the seeds contained hydrocodone in addition to morphine and codeine.

I am assuming the lab confused thebaine with hydrocodone. What do you guys think?

I don't know, the synthetic proceedure for manufacturing hydrocodone involves a catalytic rearrangement of the double bond of codeine so that it ends up on the carbon atom with the 6-hydroxy group, which spontaneously becomes a ketone (hydrocodone - keto-enol tautomerization). It's possible that occurred as part of the tea preaparation (I believe the catalyst is an iron compound)

The most likely scenario is that the kid took some hydrocodone either before or after he drank the tea.
