Hydrocodone and Valium.

Hey BL! First off let me say I used the search engine but didn't find a solid answer or my dosage.

I plan on taking 15 mg Hydrocodone and 10 mg Valium. I have a mild-moderate opiate tolerance and no benzo tolerance (But I can take 60 mg Valium and stay awake) I know that mixing benzos and opiates in excess is a one way ticket to the morgue, so I want to be as safe as possible. Also, is it really any fun? I have the Norco 10-325 for post-Scoliosis surgery pain and same with the Valium (10's) Would like to know what to expect and if my dosage is safe.

Hi Brian, welcome to BL. You did the right thing starting your own thread, it's what we encourage in BDD :)

Mixing opiates and benzos can indeed be dangerous. 10mg diaz sounds fine if you can normally take 60mg, so it all depends on your opioid tolerance. 15mg of hydrocodone isn't a big dose really if you look at the opioid conversion chart in my sig, but people's tolerance varies a lot - how does it compare to what you usually take? If you are combining opioids and benzos you really want to take a lot less of each than you usually would, especially for the first time you combine them.

However, if you have been prescribed them both by the same doctor then it's usually okay to follow their advice!
 
As anyone here will tell you if you are going to do this start low, even with a moderate tolerance. You can always take more as you see how it hits you. I don't like to mix the two, but thats me. Hydrocodone gives me energy, and valium takes it away. I like to take the valium way later after I am done with my hydro buzz to sleep.

If you still plan on doing this combo be smart. You are going to start with 15mg hydo I see, well then just take one 10mg valium since you have no tolerance to benzos, and see how you like it. With no tolerance to benzos don't take more than two or three valiums in 24 hours time till you see how they hit you. Just to be on the safe side. Let me know if you need anymore combo advice ...I have done them all..!!

Great advice guys! I think i'm going to split the Valium dose in half just to be on the safe side, and take the other half if I feel it's needed. It takes anywhere from 15-30 mg of Hydrocodone to feel the buzz, so I figured i'd start on my lowest starting dose. Hope it'll be good! :P
 
Sounds like a plan. You can always add more, but you can't take away! Best to be cautious :)

Thanks for the friend request Brian242..! You are my first friend :) I have not been around BlueLight much in the past, but I will for now on. Do what I can with all the pharmaceutical knowledge I have for the newbies :)
 
Oh wow, I took the 15 mg Hydrocodone, waited 30 minutes, and took the 5 mg Valium and i'm feeling pretty nice! Glad I didn't add the other 5 mg Valium because i'd be GONE :P
