Hydrocodone and Tussionex

Hey guys I have a few questions.
I've been taking norcos, about 30-40mg a day for about 7-8 months now. I got a bottle of tussionex 120ml a couple days ago for a cough. It has 10mg hydrocodone per 5ml (teaspoon). I know the tussionex is supposed to be time release and a different "strand" of hydrocodone. Not hydrocodone bitrate. Anyways, I've taken 40mg hydrocodone throughout the day today. What do you think is a safe dose of tussionex to mix with this? Or is mixing the two a bad idea? Thanks

It's the same thing really (hydrocodone is hydrocodone), although higher doses of the other drug in the tussionex [chlorpheniramine] may not be good for you, although it's hard to come across much research of that. I am a firm believer in not redosing on opioids since it doesn't really get you higher (unless you take more pretty shortly after the initial dose) so all it really does is make you tired while increasing your tolerance, making it a waste. But to answer your question, however much more hydrocodone you usually could take would be a safe amount to add in the form of tussionex, but personally I would save it for its own dose another day, and take 30-40mg of it (so 15-25ml of tussionex) when you do. Don't take that much after already taking the norcos though.

tussionex is just an extended release formulation mixed with an antihistamine.

Relatively safe in low level abuse, but it is deemed dangerous to overdose on chlorpheniramine.

Chlorpheniramine, in levels over 12 to 24 mg is very capable of causing serotonin toxicity.
