Hydrocodone after methadone?

Hello all. I have been taking hydrocodone for over a year now and of course my tolerance is very high. I do use recreationally every day. I recently was given a 10 mg methdone. I have never taken it before so I broke it in half on Saturday and took only 5mg. I then continued my hydro use the next day, which is 60-80 mg at once. I took the other half of the methdone yesterday morning. My question is this: is it ok that I take my regular dose of hydro today without worry? I have felt no ill effects since taking the methdone and did not even feel any "buzz" from it. People who have had experience with mixing both please. Thanks!
 
With that much hydro tolerance, I don't think 5 mg methadone would have done much damage. But it's too late as you already took it but keep in mind it takes longer for methadone to clear out of your system. You didn't say if you are prescribed the hydros or not. Also, taking 60-80 mg in one sitting is quite a bit. Are you using CWE? I hope so.
 
Yes, I am prescribed the hydro but instead of spreading the daily dosage out, I take it at once in the evening to chill. Yes, I do use CWE and always have. Ive been researching mixing methdone with other drugs and I know that its not uncommon for people to take hydro and methadone together. If I have calculated correctly, right now I have less than 3 mg of methadone n my system. I just want to make sure that it would be ok to add my regular dose of hydro to that.
 
I don't think you would have bad effects from it since you took the methadone yesterday morning. I had a doctor prescribe me oxycodone up to 40 mg a day and for relief at night 10 mg methadone. Not real high doses but the methadone didn't mess things up, make me wasted or anything like that.
 
ORAL

Hydrocodone = 30 mg
Oxycodone = 20 mg

Just keep in mind opiate / opioid cross tolerance is not complete and everyone reacts differently, so aiming lower would be very well advised for safety to test the waters with something new.
 
I agree. How long before I don't have to worry about it at all anymore?

And if I were to take my dose of hydro and there were bad effects, what would they be?

Maybe for tonight use less. This way you won't have this worry. It's hard to gauge because everyone has a different tolerance. Since you are new to methadone perhaps it's best not to chance it and resume normal dose tomorrow.
 
I think you're right. But what would side effects be if any amount I take has a bad reaction?
 
If there was a reaction with methadone and hydro (or any other CNS depressant) it might involve slowed respiration, confusion and drowsiness amongst other things. In larger doses, it could be deadly.
 
Thanks for your replies. I don't think ill be taking anymore methadone. I know it has helped many people, but its just too scary to me.
