Ever since I got my first adderall script a month ago I've been reading up on how to increase efficiency to make the xr last as long as possible. I feel much better on it when I've been hydrating properly so I've gotten into the habit of having sports drinks on me most of the time.

I've heard that citric acid speeds up the elimination of amphetamines, which is found in all if not most sports drinks, sweet tea, and lots of other drinks. I tried to drink just water but it doesn't seem to hydrate me as well as the sports drinks. Anyone have any recommendation for drinks that don't contain citric acid?

water seems to be the only way to stay hydrated everything else seems to contain citric acid even pedialyte
i was told by the ER doc once (alcohol binge got super dehydrated ) on avg you need to drink 2 liters of water daily
curious to know
how do you know how hydrated you are?

Well I can't exactly measure my hydration level but I notice when I start to get thirsty. My energy plummets and it feels as though I am coming down off of methylphenidate. I'll chug a couple glasses of water and feel better in 40 min. I'll drink about 3-4 12oz powerades within 10 hours and feel fine except that the adderall drops off at the 4 hour mark. It takes about double the water to keep me feeling alright but then I'm going to the bathroom 20 times a day.

Are you sure it's a hydration issue and not a glucose crash? It sounds like it's the sugar in those powerades keeping your energy levels up. There's no reason water and maybe one powerade wouldn't be more than enough to keep you hydrated. Water with a tiny pinch of salt is probably the best think to drink in large amounts when on amphetamine and a glass or two of pedialyte is a much better alternative to powerade.

Most sports drinks are actually pretty terrible for you and loaded with sugars and corn syrup. There are much better ways of getting the small amounts of electrolytes in powerade that don't contain tons of sugar. Pedialyte certainly isn't gonna drastically affect your dose either (I honestly doubt powerade has much of an effect as well).
