Heroin hurting yourself nodding out

Someone that I know had to wear this bad boy because they nodded out in a weird position. It took him about 3 months with that on along with physical therapy before it was back to normal.

As tricomb mentioned it's called radial neuropathy.

... i put two big messages like that seoerate because im typing on my phone. Its too hard to try to explain why but the longer a messsage it is the more impossible it gets on this phone to navigate around it.. like if i wanna edit something in the middle of it foeget about it ill never get the cursor there
Story of my life lol pisses me off to NO end when I can't fukin scroll to edit and get the damn cursor in gahhhh!

I met a guy recently that after spending a week shooting coke, he passed out on his arm for 24 hours. He ended up blocking the circulation and had to go to the hospital as he had lost all mobility in the hand, fingers and arm. He evidentially had done some nerve damage as well, and he couldn't do more than touch his forefinger to his thumb for something like four months. Got to be carefull.

I guess I've been quite lucky judging by some of the stories on here.
I have burnt myself countless times while nodding out in bed with a cigarette and have given myself a dead arm but luckily I regained full use of it again within an hour.

Man speaking of nodding out on toilets my bathrooms kinda small, a few days ago i nodded on the toilet and fell straight forward with all my weight pulled down from gravity in a freefall and slammed my head into the wall in front of me sooo hard haha.

LMFAO!

What a beautiful literary portrait you've painted there... I nearly lost myself laughing at your post! Truly great stuff...

On a serious note: Anyone using opiates should definitely try to get as much cardiovascular exercise as you can, especially if you are an IV drug user. The problem I see is that not only do opiates/opioids cause one to "nod off" in high doses, but continual usage seems IMO to cause the user/abuser to lead a generally inactive lifestyle (possibly due to most time being spent nodding off...lol!). This is not true in all cases of course. I wonder how many of the people who had this type of nerve damage were also either overweight and/or generally malnourished or did inadequate exercise?

I used to smoke heroin with a propane torch, like the ones plumbers use to solder pipes, just set to a really small flame. I would sit on my bed cross legged, usually with the torch sitting in the crook of my leg.. Once I came out of a nod to flames in front of me :/ the torch had tilted over onto a synthetic fiber kinda fuzzy blanket, I put 3 holes in it that you could stick your head through. I learned real quick to always put the torch on my dresser after every hit.

man one time i nodded out in a patio chair, has big metal arm rests. Was slumped to the side with arm pressed against armrest. woke up in morning, from forearm down was numb, just felt like when your hand falls asleep. but feeling didn't come back. was stuck with no use of my left hand for approx 3 months. most ridiculous thing ever.

apparently it's called 'saturday night PALSY' (look it up!) from people falling asleep drunk with their arm over the back of a chair. Restricts blood flow and damages radial nerve, which runs along upper arm. never guaranteed to heal, i guess im lucky, and im sure being relatively healthy didn't hurt. either way, was scary as hell and lame as hell.

Wow Floyd that's damn interesting info.... Makes me think of all the people in a drop in center sleeping in chairs waiting for shelter beds.

Not a nodding story but i passed out from vodka and xanax on my arm/hand and damaged the nerve in it from squashing it and suppressing the blood flow. minor accidents gave me a velcro support thing for it (don't know what they're called) because i had no muscle control and it was just all floppy. Went to the doctor a week after said it would heal in time and thankfully it did. Be careful.

I knew a guy who constantly had burnt fingers from nodding off while holding a lit ciggie.

i have had trapped nerve damage lasted for a few days. the most extreme i have had in the beginning of the year was partial paralyses left side of my face, neck and along the inside of my right hand, arm which lasted about 2-3 weeks. Dr belived i had a mini stroke

Haha ive had good luck with my nods and usually catch myself before any real injuries. But i cant tell you how many times ive seen people nod with their cigarette and burn their clothes or their skin. Those sneaky stoges:sus:

I've nodded while ironing clothes for the next day, just a minor burn. I couldn't tell you how many times I've burnt holes in my clothes or furniture. The worst was oxycontin when I nodded on the toilet and don't know how long I was out. But woke up to my face hitting the tile floor. I was too fucked up to take myself to the hospital so just put a bag of ice on it and lay down on the sofa.

My dad got up at 6 and there was blood all over the bathroom, kitchen and sofa. By the time I got to the hospital, they couldn't stitch it, but used that glue stuff. They said I had a concussion and it left a nasty scar next to my eyebrow too. :(

ive def hit one, then hit the can (the anticipation always makes me have to shit...??) and woke up later on the bathroom floor. leg was all twisted and asleep, had to drag myself to bed. i recently did a rehab stint, been doing well. but when i got there every day for like 2 weeks i'd get up and put on a shirt, and it'd have a min of 1 cig burn in it. never realized it before, lol. do'h!

I experienced the nods several times under oxycodone my first times trying oxy & I never liked nodding......I don't feel comfortable nodding out.

I can't imagine nodding out while trying to drive a car.......

I remember a guy that worked for me nodding out trying to dial the phone on front of my customers at the restaurant. I thought he was gonna fall off the stool & hurt himself......I sent him home to get some sleep.

Already been said, but standing in front of the toilet trying to piss for sooo damn long and eventually I nodded and at some point I feel forward with my nose breaking the fall into the back of the toilet and my head hitting the wall.

Woke my whole house up with that shit and had one hell of a bloody nose.

Fucked up and fainted in my bathroom and kitchen (wasn't even on opioids), I had been irresponsible the day before - total black out. I remember standing there and then waking up on the floor in the kitchen. I'm lucky it was for fairly short periods of time, my body was weak but no rhabdomyolysis which can be lethal, or at least lead to amputations.

The second time I fell weird on my right thumb, it was numb like asleep for a week or two, but within three weeks all sensation is completely back to normal.

Most of the damage I did from nodding out (not from IVing, just falling asleep, I don't IV) was holes in my clothes from a lit cigarette. Pretty glad I never burned my fucking house down. Now I'm 4 months clean from cigarettes and never have to worry about burning my house down, or my clothes, ever again! Evar!

Edit: lol just saw how fucking old this thread is :)

Falling asleep driving a 20 000 pound forklift cause the heroin you just shot was FIRE! Lol I've had it a few times where I'm slumped over my steering wheel passed out and my boss wake me up once cause he came over to drop off some orders for me to cut with the chainsaw haha he goes a bit tired? and I said yea haven't slept well. I think he knew though just didn't say anything
