Im not the poetic type (:S), so the only imput I can give to this forum is to recite somebody else's work that strikes a chord with me. Its a slow song by Trent Reznor (also known as Nine Inch Nails), but as he is deemed as evil among other things, he has an uncanny ability to write moving music, but mostly for an aquired taste only (meaning, for a passivist music listener, it takes a very easy-going, open mind to appreciate what he is saying).
Having said this, hope somebody enjoys :)
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
"The Downward Spiral" - 1994
"I hurt myself today, to see if i still feel,
I focus on the pain, the only thing that's real,
The needle tears a hole, the all familiar sting,
Try to kill it all away, but i remember everything...
~~What have I become, my sweetest friend? Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.
You can have it all, my empire of dirt, I will let you down, I will make you hurt.~~
I wear this crown of shit, upon my liar's chair,
Full of broken thoughts, I cannot repair,
Beneath the stains of time, the feeling's disappear,
Uou are someone else, I am still right here.
~~What have I become, my sweetest friend? Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.
You can have it all, my empire of dirt, I will let you down, I will make you hurt.~~
If I could start again, a million miles away,
I would keep myself, I would find a way..."

hurt...i know this one well. back when i thought i was misearble in high school this was like my anthem. i obsessivley scribbled the chorus on anything and everything i could write on.
looking back i was just stupid and mopey. i still had quite a few years until i really experienced what is was to "hurt"
