I apologize if I'm repeating anything, but all I've seen is different. Quickly to the point, my buddy brought some H over and fresh pack of needles, and I can't do it myself, so he took the liberty. He shot me once, all was good, prolly 15 mins later, again, then about 5 mins later the last of it was injected. Immediatley I felt the burning and dropped to my knees tightening my belt and gritting my
teeth. He's experienced in the IV ways and said sometimes it burns cuz it burns in the veins- which I didn't buy, I figure he missed, but he insists otherwise. The pain decreased shortly thereafter, the next day it was a lil swollen and he said it'll go down, and as of now it's been around 3 days and the swelling is much greater and the pain is almost enough to make me cry. As I look at it, there's no discoloration of any kind and it's just swollen and painful. I can't get the end of requiem of a dream out of my head, but I don't have any insurance, but need be I'll go in.
So is this something that will normally go down shortly, am I over reacting? Cuz it hurts to so much as use a hammer, which sucks cuz I'm trying to ge this remod done by the end of the week and the arm is quite a damper. Any imput would me appreciated!! Thanx!

Probably an abscess. Give it some time. If the pain keeps increasing and the swelling keeps going up, you probably should bite the bullet and get it looked at by a physician. I've gotten one before from a missed hit(I moved, needle came outta the vein midshot) and it fucking hurt. I had a nice quarter sized lump on my arm for 4 days. Thankfully it was winter so I could keep it covered up from wandering eyes.

Is it an abscess? Look it up if you're not sure what it looks like.

Is the whole forearms swollen? Like if he would have hit an artery?

Regardless, get it checked out ASAP!

It's about 4-6 inches long, and seems to sorta wrap around I guess u could say. The swelling is about midarm to almost wrist, and hurts like a SOB, trying to turn a doorknob without grueling pain is just impossible. But wouldn't the inflamed area be discolored? I've seen pretty nasty pix, but this just looks like a swollen bee sting that covers a ton of area with no sign of location to the sting. I'd really hate to go in if it's just me being paranoid, my ex is signing me full custody in a week and she's moving out of the country. I know how that sounds, but this was my first time shooting, was hardcore into oc's and doners for about 8 years, then just quit the painful way. I've been clean for 5 years now, but my buddy had the H, and I've only snorted it before, but I've always wanted to check out the quick way.
But in anycase I'd hate to have some documentation to show me unfit, or as a user as I know sharpies are kinda the sign of a hardcore addict.

If i was you i'd get it checked out straight away,as i've known many people who have lost limbs due to NOT getting checked out.Hitting a nerve is just as painfull as hitting an artery,A DR is the only person who can tell you what you,ve done.Abscess's are usually from an inverted hair!!!

Im not sure about that one...

Anyhow, I would get it checked out straight away.. No point in losing a limb for life over dealing with a doctor or paying some cash - how much would you pay to keep your arm?

Besides, how is a doctor going to tell the court about what happened?? Nobody needs to know but you, there is a confidentiality code in medical circles you know.

Could be cellulitis, or some other local infection. You need to see a doctor asap, because these kinds of infections can cause serious damage and the longer it's left, the harder it is to treat.

Ea, I'll be going in. Swelling isn't going down, and the only reason I wasn't too concerned was that no discoloration, but it hurts more and more all the time, but last night in the shower, my fingertips were tingling, and I was cold and kept turning the temp up, and it was damn near burning and it was still feeling cold, so that freaked me out. I'll be going in asap. And I feel the muscle under the swelling, it's hard as a rock.

I've seen this sort of thing so many times on this site.. I'm just so grateful I live in a country where I don't have to compromise my health just because I don't have any medical insurance. Say what you like about the NHS - it's saved my arse many a time and not cost a penny......(however dentists are a different matter entirely :X)

I woke up to minor soreness, and little swelling, I can move my wrist just fine. But i had already cancelled the gig we had lined up for nonite. Figured I couldn't play guitar, then I am fine. Odd. Tissue is soft as normal, no rock hard muscles. Should I still go in? Is this the calmbefore the storm?

You may be in the clear if the swelling went down and it doesnt hurt anymore, I used to skin pop when I was young and did not know any better and thats what usually happened, swelling and pain for a few days and then it just starts to diminish, but every one is different, if it starts getting worse again just go to the hospital, I under stand the feeling of shame when seeing the doc, but if it will prevent the lose of a limb its worth it all the way, no matter what they say to you.

Yea, no insurance and I've been off the radar for years, but the only dr around here would be my old pain management doc. Sure would suck to be clean for so many years and all of a sudden here I pop in for heroin. But would surely take it over losing my fretting hand. Clearly not just cuz of that, but yea. Pain is far from noticeable. I've been massaging it with aloe and putting a cool wrap on it. Iunno, but it seems much better.
