there is a very disturbing thread on the raves.com.au board with some people having had their bags/mobiles/wallets etc lifted from the cloakroom at hardware. party people were then threatened by security when they complained. did any bluelighters experience similar? what can be done?

have u ever contemplated how easy it would be to sneak behind and take as many damn bags u could get your hands on........it wouldn't be that hard.....not that I've ever done anything like that
but there are some seedy individuals out there, who have nothing better to do at dance parties than to raid peoples personals.
rather than assigning 18000 security officers to the decks, put one of them in the cloak area.

I was there and witnessed some sordid behaviour first hand. I was having a 10 min massage at the massage tent next to the cloakroom (massage was awesome by the way), anyway a girl before me who was having one as well, had her wallet stolen off the table in the sectioned off area, right under about 4 peoples noses. There are some really nasty people out there that defy what the whole rave culture is all about. Maybe its because Hardware was too comercial, I would be really suprised to hear of a similar thing happening at say Psy-Corobeeree or a similar bush trance fest. I'm not being judgemental towards anyone, but that was my first "comercial" rave on a large scale, and stories like the abve will make me reconsider going to another similar event.
Bring on the glowing warmth of Tranceplant to heal my wounded PLUR ideals.

I know from experience that the cloakroom is a preferred meet up point, hence the large gathering of people in the area.
it would therefore be difficult to detect people entering and leaving the cloakroom. And the fact that the cloak room was at a point central to dance floors/bars/stalls cannot help reduce the size of the crowd lingering in the area.
The cloak room at Two tribes would have been the most ideal set up i've seen.......all garments and bags were in a tent(clearly out of site of public. It would have been almost impossible to obtain access to people's belongings.

pkn, if you went to the massage tent for a massage then you were in the wrong place
the best massages were going down on the top of the stand at the back of the main room,
lots of peoples witht their tops off all going for it with, wait for it, ... vicks vapour rub, youd be amazed how good that stuff is for massages,
at one stage i had about 6hands massagin my back at once,
and there was a great view of the crowd/ lasers aswell
