I am in kind of a tricky spot and need some advice. I was at work when I met this girl who came in and needed me to help with something. We chatted for a bit and I thought she was pretty attractive (It should be mentioned that I had a pretty strong buzz going on at the time):\ At any rate, I ended up asking her out right then and there. I don't think I would have done this had I not been buzzed, but to my surprise she said yeah. I told her I didn't want her to feel pressured and only if she really wanted to. I am 21 and it turns out she is going on to be a junior in high school.

This made me think. Were I able to get someone my own age (god knows, i've tried) I wouldn't even bother with her, but I still havent had any real meaningful relationship and am somewhat desperate. i frequently get mistaken for alot younger than I really am, and I think if we were together, there wouldn't really be a dramatically big age diff. but is it still ok? should i go for it? I'm torn on this.

If you were in my situation, would you?
 
I think you should be safe.

And more to the point, women mature much faster than men do in that age bracket
 
Arizona state law says that anyone under the age of 18 cannot consent to having sex with an adult.

I wouldn't risk it dude. If she rats you out for whatever reason then you're forever labeled a sex offender and that will haunt you for life.

That's true, but honestly, I'm not really in it for the sex. I really just want someone I can be with and talk to and shit. Of course if, the opportunity should present itself, I'm not too sure I would trust myself, but I doubt it would anyway.

better watch out for her brother man..........they can get mean when they find out their sister is dating somebody alot older......even though youre just a bit older.....5 years
 
Junior in Highschool = 15 or 16.

I have a sister that age. If I found out a 21-year-old guy was trying to go out with her I'd smash his face in with a blunt object. :\

yea dude if any of her people find out shes dating a guy 5+ yrs older it might not be a great reaction

Yeah, I suspected it was a bad idea from the start... oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until the next blue fucking moon to get another yes out of a girl who isn't like four years younger
 
lol.... I began dating my ex at 18; he was 27.

There was definitely no issue there, except he invested a lot more seriousness in the relationship as the years rolled on, whereas I became more interested in meeting new people and branching out.

I helped him become financially independent and gain stability with his employment and various other things.... so we were definitely on the same page for a while there. It was just unfortunate for him that he had been less driven when he was younger to really be headed where he should have been when he reached 30+....

I rarely date men my own age. In fact, it's never happened. a 2.5 age gap is the least age difference I've had with a partner. As it is, I'm only drawn to 30 year-olds (at age 24) so really, the gap dissolves at 18.


sucks about your situation bro, but yeah, better to be safe than sorry. there are hoardes of 18 y/o girls, you just need to think outside the square a little :)
