How would 20 mg phenobarbital compare to diazepam?

How would 20 mg of phenobarbital compare to diazepam, in terms of potency? Would it be equivalent to, like, 10 mg diazepam? More? Less? I'm using diazepam as a a comparison term as I know benzo potency is usually compared to it. Yeah, I've read it's not a recreational dose, but I'm just being curious. Not sure if one can adequately compare benzos to barbiturates, but it seems a reasonable question, since I understand they are cross-tolerant to some degree. I never did any barbs, so maybe more experienced users could shed light on the issue

Also, would valerian root act as a potentiator for the barbiturate? In my country there's this sleeping pill which is apparently OTC and contains 80 mg of valerian root dry extract and 20 mg of phenobarbital. Many people mistakenly believe it's just a herbal drug and must be very weak, but it's obviously not an exclusively herbal drug, so I'm not sure about it being "weak"...

You won't get a buzz from phenobarbital, it has zero recreational value. Comparing it with a benzo is thus useless.

yep ime phenobarb has no rec value, but imo benzos don't too

i have done up to 140mgs of phenobarb and looking back i was less stupid than with 2mgs of xanax. not really what you asked but it's the info i can give.

if you insist on trying phenobarb i'd start with 100mgs, may be 150mgs. remember also that it peaks at like 8-12 hours (assuming oral) after administration and lasts forever (2-5 days half-life) oh and also that it can kill unlike benzos

Phenobarbital isn't really a drop in substitution for benzos at all.

Benzos can kill too but you're right the risk is higher with phenobarbital
