How Trendy Are You?

Don't like people tbh. I have a few friends, all of them good.
I take it you are quite young, in your early '20s? I was a bit like you when I was that age, but then I've realized that I was missing out. Watching and "feeling" people from the introvert way - shall we say quietly - can be really nice and enriching :D

Being "trendy" is an idiots attempt at being better than others by wearing designer clothes/watches and all that.

In terms of actual coolness, yeah I'm pretty high.

Popularity has been hindered thanks to religion. But being in the minority is always a winner ;)

"It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui."

Fashion = Looking like the biggest prick you can in the most expensive manor while still acting confident. I am not homophobic but the metro sexual man thing has gone to far, half the youth take steroids and dress like gay boys round here and its not a good look. Be interested to see how they would get on in prison.

Obviously your community would benefit from every young man becoming a criminal. Much better than slicked back hair and heavens forbid leather jackets. %)

Um... you do know what happens in prison, yeah?

I wouldn't call roidheads 'metrosexual'. Repressed homosexual, yes.

Nothing wrong with either.

Don't really give a fuck about trends tbh. I'm bit of an introvert, can be socially awkward but also I can be highly sociable. Don't like people tbh. I have a few friends, all of them good.

Can't really understand people who have lots of friends and are constantly doing something. Feels a little fake tbh.

Pretty much sums me up. couldnt give a shit about trends, and the word trendy is shite. altho i do like people the majority of the time, and even more so when im off my pickle. quite content with my own company though. got quite a few friends/acquaintances of different social circles, and a few close friends that feel like brothers/sisters or something. ive been pretty socially lazy this year though compared to usual

Indeed. i like older styles of stuff in general... old school motors, etc, much more... something

Yeah that's why I got my hair cut how I did then every fucker started doing it. It's been fucked up now anyway, I let someone else other than my usual person cut it and it's not the same.

Yeah thought the reason you got that haircut, yeah everybody around here for the past year or more has been getting 50s haircuts, the hairdresser thats been doing them all in this little town has made a mint, moving out of the shop into a bigger one already. the american motors being made 1950s and 1960s are art on wheels, love them

Going to lose the length I think, not had short hair for a good three years. Going to keep the grade 1 sides and hard parts but just have short scissors on top I think, except everytime I mention losing the length my hot hairdresser pulls an upset looking face and I panic and think fuck I'm making myself less attractive to females here!=D

Was talking about this the other week up the park. My mate said that bams are a dying breed. That you don't see many young neds any more (ie, socks tucked into the trackies, Reebok classics and baseball caps at funny angles). I told him that they're still out there but they dress like fucking wallopers now, spray tans and vest tops.

Edit - Before someone says neds dying out must be a good thing. They haven't died out. They've just changed the uniform. Same attitude underneath it.

Re the topic. I reckon I was trendy at some point in the late 90s. Still sporting the same sort of gear that I wore then can't be particularly trendy now though.

^^ I've noticed it's only the younger neds up here rocking the stereotypical look to some extent. Seems to be as they get older, they go for designer clothes now.

It was clearly aimed at young adults, but there is a series Tyger Drew-Honey is doing on BBC3 & one of the episodes was 'Tyger Takes On... The Perfect Body'. I was shocked to the extent that a lot of guys seemingly go... back, crack & sack. 8o

I've noticed the opposite. It's only the old ones still sporting the proper look, all the young ones have been spending too much time in Urban Outfitters & not enough time in JD Sports. We came to the conclusion that when you're starting off your ned career nowadays you get a voucher for the tanning salon and a pair of those chino things with the sagging gusset rather than a pair of sports socks and a baseball cap.

Still wearing the sort of clothes you did in the late nineties is fucking pathetic, isn't it?

I was trendy in an 'underground' way from about 1998 until the Libertines became big. Once The Libertines became big, I was super-fucking-trendy for a little while and enjoyed the 'status', till I flipped my wig and stayed indoors for two years with a red Sprayway fleece on. Zipped up fully.

Since my thirties crept up on me, I've dressed pretty similar to how I did in my teens, just with little refinements; no spray-on jeans or girls' tops for starters, both of which I was fond of at times. Yeah.

So I'm trendy, but only if `a) you think I'm a vicar or b) you're a young kid / older person who likes The Ramones. Other than that, I'm just The Bad Man with greasy hair at your local bus stop.
