I'm tired. All the time.

No matter how much sleep I get the previous night, be it 8 hours, 12 hours, or 16 hours, I'm still tired all day long and a year or so ago it started getting bad to the point where I needed to do something. For the past four months i've been self-medicating this with Ephedrine, but my tolerance to it is quickly growing. I originally only needed two pills (12.5mg each) twice a day, now I need 6 pills twice a day (150mg of ephedrine/day and growing can't be good) to get the same effect. Thing is, ephedrine is terrible for you and tolerance keeps growing, and I'd rather not move on up to stronger, illegal stims like meth.

I read up on modafinil and it seems perfect for me. I'm not looking for a buzz or high, just something to keep me from being tired all the damn time. Thing is, I don't think i'd be able to get it from a doctor just saying "I'm tired all the time". What conditions is it usually prescribed for?

It is often prescribed for "excessive daytime sleepiness" or some graveyard shift induced sleep problems, maybe narcolepsy. Have you tried caffeine tablets? Maybe 200 mg every morning?

Yup. I take 400mg of caffeine with each ephedrine dose. Like I said, it works to an extent, but i'd rather not die at 35 of a heart attack.

We aren't here to tell you how to get prescribed medications.

It's not like I'm asking "hey dudes how do i fake pain to a doctor so i can get some pillz nd get fucked up!!!", I'm asking about something a little more reasonable.

Yeah, 800 mg caffeine on top of all the ephedrine really isn't the best idea.

I should have my modafinil arriving any day now for the same thing you have Jacklies,

so if anything.. I'll report backo n how good it works on me (I do have ADHD as well though, which i'm only self medicating with weed up until now)

If you have ADHD, why not go get a ritalin script instead?

You should see a doctor, and let him decide whether or not Modafinil is right for you.

Self-medication is a slippery slope, and it won't be long before the ephedrine isn't cutting it anymore and you move on to more drastic measures.

My mother was diagnosed with hypersomnia after many years of having similar symptoms. (Tired all the time, sleep constantly but never feel rested, etc.) Doctors refused to prescribe her Provigil, she thought the same thing as you. It sounded like a miracle drug. So she started self-medicating with meth. That didn't work out for her like she planned.

If you can, try to avoid graduating up to self medicating with more potent stimulants. See a doctor, describe your symptoms and allow him decide the best course of action.

For the record, Bluelight really doesn't allow questions along these lines. Just saying.

It could be chronic fatigue instead of hypersomnia, but like I said a doctor will know best.

Haha, the first line sounds like every drug commercial ever :P

But yeah, the reason I want modafinil because the ephedrine is getting to the point of not cutting it anymore and I don't want to move on to meth/dextroamp either.

As others said, talk to your doctor. It can be useful to bring some information on modafinil though, I know a lot of doctors don't know about all the available medication available, and will stick to what they know. Make sure to bring a data sheet and some related info about it if he doesn't know much about it.

Very good. Lets all give a standing ovation to Mr. Backseat Mod over here for doing such a good job.

Tripman is correct; this thread does violate BDD guidelines.

you can wait for a BDD mod to close it. or you can click the "edit" button on your first post and delete the whole thread. that way when a BDD mod does sign on and check reported posts, he or she will see that you realized your mistake and do not just have a blatant disregard for the policies set in place.
