Here's the traditional oldschool view of VR:
virtual reality
n : a hypothetical three-dimensional visual world created by a computer; user wears special goggles and fiber optic gloves etc., and can enter and move about in this world and interact with objects as if inside it

Virtual realities are much easier to obtain then that. In fact we exist in one right here. Anyway, here's how to watch a movie VR style. Some of you already know this.

I know this is going to seem a bit obsessive-compulsive to some of you but if you want to garner deeper insight, perception, and symbolism from a film here's how ya do it:

This works best for drama-type movies.

When you sit down to watch a movie, this ritual must take place; the room must be dimmed or preferably, completely dark, a comfortable spot must be found where as little physical discomfort or interruption can be felt, precautions must be taken to avoid the intrusion of all external stimuli, phones left off, cells off, try to relax. At this point a substance intake is critical to deepen the intensity of the VR experience and open up the limic region where more insightful thought can be obtained.

My personal preference is around 4 shots of 80 proof cognac or scotch(adjust for body weight - I weigh 235lbs). Marijuana is frowned upon because although it is very good at intensifying emotional reaction and fear, it can often cause perifery interruption and distortions of plot, especially at high doses. Moderate to moderate-high dose of alchohol is the best at opening up access to the limbic region - don't get drunk or you'll get plot distortion and perifery/physical interruption and probably just pass out.

When these directions have been followed, you will notice the trancelike state begin and all external thoughts, feelings, and intrusions should drift away.

Much the same as meditation, I find that at this stage my physical body has no feeling and I am left in the hynotic trance of a virtual reality presented before my eyes and ears. Of course it really helps if the movie is good and the acting is 5-star. If the acting seems ingenuine at all, it can destabilize the VR force.

Finally, at this point, you will no longer be watching a movie, you will be experiencing it. You will be there, in the movie itself, pure and crystalline. When the movie is over and you come out of the trance you should have knowledge and insights far deeper then if you just "watched" the movie.

I'm sure some people don't need a substance to get deep into a movie. I don't knock you in any way, this is my personal journey I'm sharing. If you know of another substance to help you get in, share it.

And yeah, I'm a freek about movies. The good ones I watch many times to get the full effect. For example, I've watched Apocalypse Now probably 50 times. And the rest of my top 20 around the same.

You can still have a life and watch a movie every other night or so.
