How to tapper off xanax safely

I recently had the paramedics come to my house and I realized I was having a panic attack. Not fun. So I was put on Xanax. But I've been on xanax in the past and it seems like my tolorence goes up quick. I get used to taking them on a regular basis then when I really need them I have to triple or quadruple my dose for any relief. I'm not happy with my doctor and dont have insurance. This happened before and he gave me a script for valium. So, I could get a script ealier. The only problem the dose of valium 10mg vs 1 mg didn't seem to do the trick but I was careful and they have a longer half-life. But he said he could not do that again. OK, so I'm back on the xanax and he won't go more than 1mg every 6hrs. I used to be on 2mg every 6 hrs years ago. Needless to say, I'm going to run out in a few days. And I have 10 days with less than 10 1 mg xanax left and 4 valium. I have had a seizure in the past from refusal to give me any meds after exhaustively telling my story about what was going to happen since I take xanax while I was in jail and sure enough had a grand mal seizure, that sucked (sounds like a lawsuit, but couldn't find a lawyer). So I'm very cautious after that. Is there a way in 10 days to taper off? I just had to take 3 for a panick attack and don't know what to do if I have another one. Do I need to go to the ER if I run out and how? Years ago I did that and I almost had a seizure because they just didn't listen to me and thought I was trying to score drugs and almost Baker Acted me for saying I don't know what I'm going to do if I dont get benzos in my system. Then they just finally gave me 1 .5 mg and sent me on my way and told me to get in touch with my doctor. Which won't happen this time. Any suggestions?
 
My thoughts on this....hmmm I would recommend switching to XANAX RETARD or something like diazepam...and take that for a week maximum depending on the dose drop significant amounts on a 3 day basis. It might sound horrible but you have to slowly wean off depending on the dose u was taking choose your path
 
you need to take less, start trying that. you can't just abuse them like crazy and expect for there to be no consequences.

half them. i'm not sure why you're taking so much considering you've already had a seizure as a result of abusing these.
 
taper very slow when i tapered off of a 12mg a day habit of xanax i went down by a half mg every week
 
Start tapering now, like 0.25mg/3x a day for 5 days, then 0.25mg/2x/day for 5 days. That's about 5 mg xanax (you said u had less than 10). Use the valium to help you out. or, if push comes to shove, score some from the street. Having SOME in your system is better than none,so dont be tempted to take like 4mg tomorrow then have virtually nothing the next 9 days.
 
guys, you know that Xanax Retard is a type of Xanax right? I believe they sell them in France.
all that aside, have you heard of The Ashton Manual? i would recommend you read it (http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.htm)
oh and find some diazepam, it has a longer half-life, and is easier to detox with than xanax.
