Back in my youngin days i remember going into psychologist offices with no pre thoughts on what i was going to say or how i was going to act. So ive been thinking, is it better to come off to the doc that you have knowledge about drugs...as in pharmaceutical drugs. Or is it better to just pull the ole "ive never heard of benzos ect. before, what are they?" My last visit I made sure to thoroughly think through how i was going to go about talking to the doc. I decided to wear very nice clothes (clothes i would wear to court usually haha) and present myself as a smart person in general but completely ignorant when it comes to potentially addictive drugs. My previous visit he asked he if i have ever heard of benzodiazapine's and I said "no i haven't, o wait are those the drugs people call benzos?" acting compltely oblivious. Well it turns out the method I used worked well seeing as i walked out with what i wanted. oh and as far as harm reduction goes, obv dont be going to your doc if your looking to completely abuse the shit out of what med your trying to aquire.

Really? didnt think that was breaking any rules, i stated its not for the purpose of getting drugs to get high. I legit needed meds for anxiety and was prescribed zoloft recently which did not help at all. Theres legit reasons for needing to go to a doc to get meds, and it sucks because theres alot of profileing going on with doctors which make it unfair to people that actually need the medication but are seen as "drug abusers" or some bullshit like that.

Then you have to tell your doctor that what you are currently on is not working and you would like to try something else. If you have had a benzo in the past, then let him/her know.

I apologize if it seems a bit brash on my part, but, it can be taken the wrong way. I know what you said, and maybe a moderator will feel differently about it, but, your better off just being honest about it (your doc visits) next time. You want the best treatment possible for you, which is not always what you may think you want.

Just be careful sir :)

A post that goes like, "I am on X drug and its not working for my X problem, what should I do?" would have been a bit better. Im not trying to be mean, I promise.

It doesn't matter what the intentions of the thread were, it's more that other people would use it for the wrong reasons, IMO.

Some doctors like their patients to be involved in their prescribing, and others do not. Some like to see that you have done your own research, while others don't want to be undermined.
