How to Space out Doses to Avoid Addiction?

Ive shot heroin a few times in the past and having recently got a new job and more spare cash, Ive decided Id like to pick up some heroin and possibly make this a regular thing.

My question is how would I space out the doses so that I wouldnt become physically addicted and so that my dosage needed to get high would not increase too quickly? Is no more than twice a week (so always at least 3-4 days in between doses) reasonable to achieve the sort of casual use that Im looking for?

Try to have a connection who you have to go through a friend to get, let him call etc. never remember the number for yourself. Just buy once a week/two weeks and get the smallest amount you can so it'll only be 3-5 shots. If you use them all early then you know you're starting to trouble yourself and you should either tell that friend not to give you anymore for a few weeks or to break connections with him/her. It's possible to use in moderation, at least I have for about a month now and haven't gotten sick again. But always remind yourself each time you do it, why, and how much fire you're playing with.

Dont know a lot about heroin since it is almost non existing where I live. But instead I know something about prescription opiates as I have a condition which causes severe nerve pain (well severe enough for me) so I have been a guinea pig for many opiates. I also had a habit of using them recreationally which I kicked out few weeks back. So I am currently prescribed for 1-3 OxyContin 20mg (the old formula) 1-3 times a day so I get box of 100 every month which means that there are each month some left overs even if I would take three each time. I use sometimes 1 per day and some days all the three depending on how much physical exercise I do each day.

I still got good buzz on weekends from taking 60mg of oxycodone orally chewed and dosed in a good timeframe with 600mg pregabalin, 10mg diazepam, 1mg alprazolam and 75mg diphenhydramine and this lasted for 4-10 hours depending if I could be or wanted to be awake during the nodfest. For a few times I added tizanidin 2-4mg (muscle relaxant brand name Sirdalud) which intensified the euphoria and let me control my nodding.

And I have prescribed OxyContin for months and my tolerance has been the same for painreliefing effects and was as well for recreational use. I would suggest you taking your heroin on weekends on friday and saturday so that there is a bigge time frame during the sober base. I have always thought that I should not let my recreational use of any drugs or alcohol taken place on business days as thats what they are meant for. The weekend should be your own time.

This does not apply for national holidays when they are in middle of week. Also when I served in Afghanistan (fron where most of my medical condititions originate from) I had to be on duty for some of the weekends so I decided to use moderate amounts of booze when I was off duty for two days so I could drink on the first on and have a hangover on the second. So I understand the use of during the week if you have a job that involves working during weekends but if you do not then I would advise to use only on weekends.

That should keep your tolerance at bay and should not cause withdrawals on monday. But dont take three times a row or you might end up having withdrawals on the fourth day. And start from the lowest amount of takes you to the level you want. And research on potentiator combos but dont do them just by someones advise and instead use interaction checkers like medscapes for iPhone and android or use the medscapes website.

Also keep a diary how much you have used and what kind of feelings the use gave you and about the possible withdravals and cravings and side-effects. That way can make a reality check easily when browsing through it on sober days. Also as you are using a street drug you could keep track on its purity as well and how much you have spent on drugs.

Getting a legitimate script for something like oxycodone would be the healthiest way to get high and also less dangerous when considering the fact that you might face sone charges when buying, possessing, using and acting out with heroin. Also atleast here it would be much healthier for wallet too, dont know the prices where you life but I would think that it would be cheaper even without insurance if you live in a country where there is no tax funded healthcare like here.

Take care and proceed with caution but enjoy your high and do not let the drugs take control of your life.

"Is no more than twice a week (so always at least 3-4 days in between doses) reasonable to achieve the sort of casual use that Im looking for?" -- IMO, yes, if you can stick to this schedule. Brainstorm and then figure out what safeguards you are going to realistically use to prevent yourself from saying fuck it, just this one time I'll go off schedule or use a little more.

Also, maybe it is worthwhile to try to find out why you want to use opiates regularly.

And maybe it is worthwhile to also pursue another hobby or venue/outlet that also gives you joy. Because opiate addictions often creep up on ppl and eventually addicts lose interest in hanging out with straight ppl and stop any activities not related to drugs.

My Experience:
I used to sniff oxycontin about 3 times a week for about 2.5 years, and then, I let myself slip and wound up physically addicted...and 6 years later...after losing everything and living through hell

I kicked the physical dependence to iv heroin and suboxone by using a pcp analog and methoxetamine (mxe). But whenever I used continuously (for me that means every 6 hours) for 3 days or more, I would find myself physically addicted again. So, then I'd use mxe again for 2 days and kick the opiate habit again.

Now, I still have the mental habit and crave relief from depression and boredom, so I will use about 1-3 shots about 1 or 2 times a week. I basically don't want to be physically addicted again and also lack the money and means to keep up a daily habit, and lack the self-control to save bags for next day use.

I am going to rehab soon and have a trip abroad, an intensive class, and school/internship lined up in hope that I won't even want to use opiates at all, with any kind of frequency.

I've read something about a 72 hour rule to avoid getting hooked on heroin/ other opiates. I beleive it was something like you have a 72 hour period to dose and i'm not sure if you're only allowed one dose but I beleive so. Then you have to wait another week to get good again.

I just tried looking it up on google but I didn't find anything....

I guess if you were that interested you could search it yourself. I'm not sure how well this works but it must have been efficient for some people.

I don't hhave time to type much but I am one of those opiate users that isn't physically addicted. I've used hydromorphone/oxycodone (ONLY oral/intranasal) for 3 years... semi-regularly. I've used for a week straight without withdrawal no problem. I consider myself lucky though. My advice is only dose on weekends. I only dose when I can afford to (which isn't often) so that keeps me non-addicted.

Ive decided Id like to pick up some heroin and possibly make this a regular thing.

This phrase in my opinion is much more important than your wanting to spread out the doses. If you are planning on making this a regular thing then I would say you are already half way to addiction, or "habitual use" as you have stated as such.

Spreading your doses 3 or 4 days apart should prevent you becoming dependent on the drug, but it is so easy to slip into daily dosing because of the psychological addiction that will most likely slowly build up if you do start dosing more frequently.

With Oxy, I was able to dose daily at the minimum amount to get me high, never redosing or increasing the amount for about a year without ever withdrawing after I finally stopped. I'm talking maybe a little bit of heightened anxiety. That's it.

Its different with Oxy but the principle of disciplining yourself to get by on the least amount possible, IMO , applies here.

I concurr with mugabe: If you are asking this kind of question, it is highly likely that planned or scheduled quasi-regular use will set you on your way towards addiction, regardless of your intentions. Be safe, be cautious, however you choose to go about it.

Physical addiction isn't what you need to worry about. It's the mental cravings. Seems to me you already have those. In the interest of harm reduction, I'd suggest you avoid the drug altogether. If you can't manage that, then how can you tell us you aren't addicted right now?

I have done opaites at least once a week for over a year and a half...for the last 6 months it's pretty much been every other night. Usually stick to oxycodone at a dose of 60-120mg for the night, sometimes IV morph if it's around or last night i took an 8mg sub and 2mg kpins. I found that this every other night dose has kept the physical addiction at bay, i always wake up refreshed and head to work. Due to 12 hour work days sometimes i just go home and sleep and it ends up being a few days before i get to sit down and enjoy an opiate.
