Is there a rule of thumb to redoisng on Oxycodone when you have ben drinking grapefruit juice ? Like usually when I havent had Grapefruit Juice, the Oxycodone only lasts about 4 hours and then I just redose without any issues. But on grapefruit juice today it felt like the effects of the Oxy lasted about 6 hours and in between I had justt a little bit more and once it wore off I redosed with my usual full dose again, but that second dose didnt feel right, it kinda felt like it just accumulated on top of my previous dose, cause I'm feeling all nasueated and my vitals are messed up and I have this weird brain feeling like I'm going to have seizure or something.

So I'm just wondering how Grapefruit juice effects Oxy when you redose, does it like combine with my earlier dose and accumulate? How long is it recomended to wait between Oxycodone doses when your on GF?

From what I understand grapefruit juice kills an enzyme in your intestine that destroys part of any medicine you take. I've read that you should be careful as people who are prescribed opioids have OD'd because of eating grapefruit in the morning and then taking their meds.

I had no idea that grapefruit potentiates opiates like that! Do you have a source for this fact or is it a widely accepted fact? Sorry to slightly derail from the main question.

i'm dubious about GFJ. i stick to tagamet. don't get me wrong, drinking GFJ used to be my ritual. i found it to be too much of a hassle. tagamet is the shit though. works every time.

it's most likely residual tolerance. in other words the oxy is still very well in your system so redosing is only going to give you cumulative effects. wait longer between doses, i can't give you an exact amount of time as it will be different for everyone. your best bet is waiting a while after your first dose has worn off.

Thanks Diposition.

I'll drink a gallon of grapefruit juice and be high the whole day!@

Opaner, a glass or two should be sufficient because I heard there was a threshold to drinking grapefruit juice, so after you exceed the loading dose of grapefruit juice any additional grapefruit juice has no effect on the substance you're trying to potentiate. I may be wrong, can anyone confirm?

^This. GFJ inhibits the CYP450 enzymes, while tagamet targets a specific enzyme within the CYP450 group. I prefer the tagamet because the GFJ makes my stomach pretty acidic, and that's no good when I'm trying to not have the drug break down before it gets absorbed.

Last poster has it down. Grapefruit juice inhibits liver enzymes which would normally breakdown some of the oxycodone during first pass metabolism (and beyond I guess). That said, I have never, no matter the situation, successfully re-dosed oxycodone. Take it when you want it. Enjoy it while it lasts. Then wait until the next day to do it again.
