How to recognize fellow psychonauts?

kinda hard to tell... although i can tell within a few minutes of talking to somebody if they're into their drugs etc

If I'm looking to find out, I'll leave a little bait.

Self-incriminating yourself isn't smart, but I'll use a very vague comment to hopefully pick up a hint.

"Oh yeah, that's crazy. Those kids must be on acid or something."

From there, their response to mentioning acid will determine if they're on your side or not.

you would never suspect the i people i know to do drugs. it's always the least suspecting kids that do the most drugs. the amount of times a person talks about drugs (IRL) is usually indirectly proportional to actual drug use...

i guess i worded my sentence poorly.... you are correct, it's not always true, i'm just thinking of some people i know so i'm biased...

You can normally tell when they have a specific twinkle in their eye, while either sober or not.

Hard to tell just by appearance I think... when I'm in uniform most people would highly doubt I use...

Obviously, getting to know someone is the best way. I think that people having unusual/different views on things might be an indicator. Maybe also the sort of media/websites/books they read?... I'm taking on this on the basis that for example, almost everyone I know who does drugs also visits /b/ on 4chan.org to some degree. You can find your own co-relations and use them for probability analysis...

Pretty easy... just nonchalantly say "I wonder what music looks like?" The ones that smirk are psychonauts...

I like this answer best :) And conversation really is the only way to know what kind of person someone really is.

Music taste. Art taste. General tastes.

This is probably the easiest way indeed if you're not in a conversation.

It's kinda strange to read this, and see that music tastes keep coming up. I'm a psychonaut, for sure. But I don't care for electronic music at all, and usually listen to power metal (I think of Iron Maiden and Helloween as good tripping music.)

Maybe this is keeping me from meeting other psychonauts, though...
