From the Wikipedia:

Since snus is not intended nor recommended for inhalation, it does not affect the lungs as cigarettes do, although it does contain more nicotine than cigarettes. Because it is steam-cured, rather than fire-cured like smoking tobacco or other chewing tobacco, it contains lower concentrations of nitrosamines and other carcinogens that form from the partially anaerobic heating of proteins; 2.8 parts per mil for Ettan brand compared to as high as 127.9 parts per mil in American brands, according to a study by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health.[citation needed] The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledges that Swedish men have the lowest rate of lung cancer in Europe, partly due to the low tobacco smoking rate, but does not argue for substituting snus for smoking, citing that the effects of snus still remain unclear. Around 2005 several reports pointed to the fact that no carcinogenic effects could be attributed to Nordic snus and this resulted in the warning label that snus could cause cancer could be removed. It was replaced with the more neutral label "Can affect your health negatively". Research is still going on but at the moment no conclusive reports have been made regarding the health effects of snus.

I have never had a desire to chew, or put tobacco in my mouth. This looks interesting, and if I were desperate (which, hey....I kind of am....LOL), I might bite, but no.....I have a problem with chewing tobacco, or dip, or snuff, or whatever you call it, of any kind.

But thank you...<3

PLUR:)

Im currently tryingto give it up.
start by downing to regulars
just been pulling out gradually more and more tobbaco out of the cigs with tweezers.

another tip, If trying to cut down and you feel like going for a smoke, wasit an hour. stare at a wall, watch TV, or vent your mood swings here on BL ;). then try for an hour and fifteen, ect.

still, Im sure everyone trying to quit can relate to the desperate morning smoke, which I still think I need. good thing nicotine withdrawl isnt fatal

Well, I've made it through a week. Physical shit is almost gone....it's just mental tension. I need to start an exercise regimen.

the best thing for quitters now is, we can go to bars and clubs and not be tempted (too much) parties are another story, but most people today don't allow smoking in their homes either... I still ( after 11 months) find the aroma of a freshly lit cigarette kind of attractive. I find if I get up close and personal with someone who has just smoked, they stink like an ashtray...it's disgusting...I think it's keeping in mind how fowl they are that keeps me away...I have to think of something really satisfying to do for my year anniversary, since I've saved about $2,500.00 since the quit

Well, I slipped. Had one (Natural American Spirit). Stress was the trigger. Damn finances. I know why it happened. Anyway, onward!

Oh well...consider it practice. Maybe next time...it only took me 40 years or so. ;) I quit almost everyday for years.

(guy goes to the Dr...asks "Doc, d'ya think I'll live to see 80?"
D. says, Do you smoke? Man says no... Do ya drink?...Man says no
Do you do drugs? Man says no...
Doctor says, "Then who gives a shit?")

I'm afraid to take Chantix, after my experience on Wellbutrin

(not to mention, no health insurance, and my old scrip' drug coverage wouldn't cover it. That stuff is $$$$$$$.......but probably nowhere near as expensive as continuing to smoke).

Again, I recommend people give the gum a try.... the main thing is you seriously have to want to quit. It is so worth it though.

No Cigs in: 1M 3W 4D 3H 54Mns $-Saved to date: $157.22

Funny thing is, I still smoke and chew in my dreams all the time.

My last two dreams included my dad giving me a half smoked cigarette and me finding a huge pile of chewing tobacco. Whats cool though is I am starting to say no to it in my dreams.

I like being a non-smoker.

I've started coughing alot more recently, I feel like my lungs are really starting to repair themselves.

Also, most likely that exercise will become a regular thing. I really really enjoy exercising nowadays. I look foward to it like I used to look foward to cigarettes.

id second snus

i got some to try because i have always liked the buzz from chew but it gives me cancre sores after even one dip, plus it can be used at places you cant smoke and as i suspected snus did not! I almost quit smoking while i had it because it was so good

i loved it immediately, plus no tobacco all over your mouth (comes in teabag like pouches), less carcinogens and it tastes very well

oh yeah and because you put it in your upper lip you dont really have to spit (well untill the 1hr mark) most actually swallow their spit when it mixes with the tabaccy (i dont) but it wont make you sick like chew will

The fucking australian government has just recently levied a massive tax directly on imported snus. Fucking Arseholes, I hate this country sometimes

Can we get an update on the OP?

I'm at 3 months 3 days..

Chew/Snus can work, but I ended up chewing more then I smoked. I actually crave a good dip more then a cigarette most of the time
